I'm pretty much the same as you. I'd definitely go see him. I appreciate his prowess on guitar but I'm not the biggest fan of his vocal stylings.
I've seen Eric only once, as part of the Experience Hendrix tour lineup.
Great player, but I never really connected with him.
HOWEVER, he's in town with his own band, doing a club gig next week, and I think I'll check it out.
Heck of a bargain at $25.

Definitely worth going. I saw him in a little club back in the 80s right after Ah Via Musicom came out, and it was mind-blowing. I remember it was loud as hell. He had a 100W Dumble, a 100W Marshall stack and two Blackface Twin Reverb amps. Way overkill for the little club he was playing. I hear he's toned it down these days due to tinnitus.
I like his instrumentals much more than his singing.
- Dave Lizewski, Kick-A$$I was just a regular guy. My only super power was being invisible to girls.
Go for it! His best album to date is 2010's Up Close.
It should be a great show. I saw him on the Ah Via Musicom tour, and he rocked it.
