Moander, thanks for the response. What you describe explains what I seem to have seen other accomplished guitarists do.
When you learn a new bit of music, especially a lead part from a tab sheet, it doesn't always appear obvious that you are going to bar a certain fret and then play notes...
Economy of movement sounds like good advice. I still haven't really trained my fingers to sort of hover just above the strings, they seem to often come up pretty high when I let go of a string. Maybe as I get more familiar with scales and progressions they will naturally stay closer to the...
Thanks, yes that is what I was asking. Also, if you are playing a riff by arpeggiating chords then you would leave your fingers in the chord position and move them only when necessary as opposed to having all of your fingers off the frets until you play each specific note? To prevent...
Hey guys,
I haven't been posting on the site for a while but I'm still plodding along! Just wondering if anyone has advice on barring a fret to play through scales or a lead riff (to make playing it faster with less finger movement)? After you work out the note progression do you just bar...
I saw these guys at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago with Michael Schenker Group opening around 1981... maybe Beatin' the Odds tour. A pretty rocking concert and Molly Hatchet was in top form.
Hey I don't remember red joys sticks.. were they for Atari or something?
I didn't really pay attention to Lou Reed much until the "Magic and Loss" record. That's a very good record..all the way through. But it's a little on the depressing side.
Thanks for posting the vids. It's always...
This is a favorite Pat Metheny / Lyle Mays song which is available in studio version on the "As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls" record. The song is also in the movie Fandango which stars Judd Nelson and Kevin Costner. dKxGVPk9o1E
I haven't heard some of his older recordings but I like him enough to give anything he's done a good listen. It was great to see him in "You See Me Laughin'". I think he was Fat Possum's biggest star for a while.
I wanted to contribute a video to the forum and share one of my favorite blues guitarists with some of you that might not know him yet. I hope you enjoy it.
