    walking bass lessons

Waking bass lines appeared at bopland.org http://bopland.org/find-lick.html?time=4%2F4&changes=Fm7&search.x=0&search.y=0&is_ext=1&page=1&quest_id=40&items_per_page=10 I guess it's more interesting for bass players, but some lines there are cool for guitar too if supplemented with proper chord...

    Backbeat

Sorry for those mistakes, I meant walking bass chord comping: see from 1:50 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oE5ZhBHy6Rs Try the same comping on 2and & 4and instead of 1and & 3and. Sometimes sounds better imho. The best practice is to combine both approaches. Yet it far away from you question...

    Backbeat

There were not exactly to the point. Chomping with bass is usually played like this | bass chord bass bass chord bass | ... Try chord | bass bass chord bass bass | ... instead

    Backbeat

    A good practice is to emphasize upstrokes preceding 2 & 4 (sometimes even 1 & 3) Try these patterns d U - u d U - u d u d U - U - - d - d u d - d U - U - - d - d - This is also true for chomping with bass. Usually one plays bass 1 2 3 4 and chords on 1and & 3and. But try chomp on 2and &...

    omitting roots in chords

In most cases it works for playing alone too as long as you keep 3rd or 7th in the bass. Play Fmaj instead of Dm7 and some guitarists will envy you.

    omitting roots in chords

    Discovered this trick: When play with bass I often omit the roots of chords delegating this function to a bassist and play 3rd or 7th instead. E.g. instead of standard changes over | A7 | Dm7 | A7(+5) Dm7(9) ----------- -6-------5- -6-------5- -5-------3- ---------5- -5--------- I often...

any place for jazz fan around here?

Hi all, I am almost 30 and I've been playing guitar for 16 years. At first I tried to play rock on Hamer-like strat. It wasn't actually a piece of that brand, just a fake but the sound was quite pleasant and the mahogany fret was very convenient to play so I enjoyed playing it. Then I spent...
