the bus in edinburgh is like £3 for the whole day unlimited travel. but its a political thing here as the government is trying to reduce congestion in the cities so has priced the oil realy high but made public transport very reasonable, i cant afford to run a car hear as its like 1.20 per litre...

    Neck reshaping...

take it you are back from your holidays dee. and i know from experience the price gap as i went to finland with a couple of friends just a couple years ago. but if you think edinburgh was cheap down where i am its like a good 25% less. as ediburgh is our capital city its extortionate in...

    accoustic with vibrato bar?

ok ive just had a sick idea of installing a bigsby on an accoustic. only thing is i dont know whether or not it will work well and i dont want to mod or b**ger up my guild. so i was thinking knock off bigsbyish vibrato on an argos special. only problem is is it worth it just as an experiment

Questions about setting up a guitar at home -- what's required?

I don't think that most of the guys that have set up my guitars really know what they are doing or have a "knowledge" of all the things going into it. I think they just look at a few things and apply their slice of knowledge. i found the same untill i started doing my own way back when. 99%...

    frets?

oh and any tools you make keep them as they are handy for any other guitars, i just dont see any point if someone only does it for themself, spending a fortune on overpriced tools.

    frets?

you dont have to go to stew mac for alot of tools if you want to do a bit of diy. ok firstly a no5 jack plane is about 16" which i ideal for leveling frets, a fairly accurate steel rule is easy to turn into a notched straight edge, a couple af mixed packs of wet n dry, radius blocks are cheap...

    String Buzz...Part Deux

i recon you need to get the files out and do a fret work. sounds to me like when they initialy dressed them the radius beam wasnt square and that will probably be the cause. although it may also possibly be a worn nut

Photo essay of a "level & crown" (fret work)

most of my tools are diy lol. ok apart from the leveling radius beam as i got my friend who is a cnc machinist to make me one and bore the insides out. i tend to get by with very few tools realy. i have a home made notched straight edge made with a dremmel and a nice steel rule and i crown and...

    Neck reshaping...

my favourite thing to do when i get a guitar i want a different neck is go scouting around in misic shops and find a killer neck shape. i just find the dimensions with a tile marking guage and follow the contours onto card with a good fine liner. i converted a westfield strat copies neck into a...
