First few hours of learning and getting familiar with the guitar

Just use the index finger as an anchor point when changing chords, and it slides back I fret as you change to E. Check out beginner lessons @ JustinGuitar.com

Which fingers are you using on which string? I play... middle on the D string Index on the G string Ring on the B string This fretting allows easier change to both E & D chords It took me a while to get this chord sounding nice, but perceiver and it will happen.

Love the mirror idea. Best way to get the fingers right is to start very slowly & deliberate in your finger placing. This will build muscle memory, then you speed it up gradually and you fingers will always go to the same spot. Don't try & push the speed too early as you will make mistakes &...

    Amp/axe ratio

Looks like I fell into the minority by accident. Admittedly, I was saving for a great guitar when my amp became unreliable. I have a $200 strat copy with Seymour Duncan Humbucker and a Peavey Audition 7.5Watt practice amp. For two years that was adequate. I was close to getting a Schecter...

    Limited Free Stuff!

I didn't make the free cut, so I purchased some from the web site. They turned up very quickly and while a bit pricy for pics certainly don't break the bank. The pack comes with three thicknesses, and I got two packs. The thick ones are too much for me, although are the quietest on the...

    Cobalt strings

Cool, I'll give em a few days and play the eq game. I'm usually driving through a Seymour Duncan Distirtion humbucker

    Cobalt strings

I have just replaced my 3 month old Ernie Ball Power Slinkies with a set to Ernie Ball Cobalt Power Slinkies. In essence the same string, aside from the outer material. They are brighter then the stockers, I'm just thinking too bright. I'm playing rock/metal in standard tuning. Has anyone...

Strat pickup suggestions to mod budget guitars?

Forgot so say new they are a bit pricy, but you may find then used, or just change one at a time as you can afford it. That's what I'm doing

Strat pickup suggestions to mod budget guitars?

I'm a fan of the Seymour Duncan rail collection. With hot rails, cool rails & vintage rails you would have an awesome array of sounds. These are humbuckers that fit in a single slot and come with punch. Two of Iron Maidens guitarists use the hot rails.

    Action

Looks good. I'd crop a bit left of the stand so the stand & hi-hat frame the drummer more

    Long Term Project

This is the wiring diagram used for the push pull tone control. And info on why it has little effect appreciated.

    Long Term Project

Project is done and semi complete for now ;-) Was a bit tight getting the wires in the space allowed, what with the extra caps and DPDT switches. The sound is very similar to before, but has more clarity, which I am very happy about. The DPDT volume pot works a charm, now I can any pick...
