As close to a pre-war Martin as it gets..

I came across this sample of a D18A (1937 Authentic).. I tell ya.. if you can't get you hands on a $100,000 pre-war Dread, this re-issue is a darn close replica. http://www.thepodium.com/mp3s/MartinD18Authentic.mp3

The sounds of different tone woods ...

Pre-war D45 not withstanding, the D45V is even nicer in my view, with the more vintage style bracing, or if you really want to kick it up a notch.. the D45 Marquis, with the Adirondack top! I sometimes wish I'd spent the extra $2000 for one of those..

The sounds of different tone woods ...

I'm now shopping around for a D15 to add to my collection.. I'm preferring to find a clean pre-owned, but I too would like a Mahogany tone to add to the mix, even if Rosewood is my primary choice. The DM is also a good option with the Sitka top..

The sounds of different tone woods ...

Yea Jim, that 1-piece Hog neck is going to be the "brazilian rosewood" of the future... or so I'm told.

The sounds of different tone woods ...

Ok, so I started on bass for 25 some odd years as I mentioned, but I decided that it's kinda hard to write music on bass... so I decided to get a guitar, and I also figured that learning the guitar (which I knew a few chords, and chord theory) would be good for my bass skills.. I began with the...

The Borg! I love it! :D I'll post a review of my evolution in the acoustic tone thread right now..

    my Intro..

That's my line! And here I thought I was the only one who used it! At last count, I've converted 11 people (two of them multi-unit companies) to Mac. All of them thank me for it every time we talk about it. Best kept secret in computers.

    my Intro..

I've owned a DM, D16R, D42, a Taylor GS, and now the D45 all in the past year or so! :D It took a lot of trial and error, and I've decided I only need one guitar as I'm not really a guitarist, so why not make it the King. I consolidated the D16R, D42 and Taylor into a D45v.. I'm done! as...

    my Intro..

Thanks all.. Yup It sounds amazing! I only wish I could do it proper justice, but as with all things, practice makes perfect, and this guitar has me inspired! Swede.. Yup, 6 years now.. haven't looked back! I love it for many reasons, and my wife who does photography part time loves the...

    my Intro..

aeolian, thanks for the tip.. this is pretty much what I've discovered in tinkering with it... the trick is to get the chords to ring out nicely when moving away from the main D-chord shape. The Chorus however has been quite easy with Dm and G, followed by Dm Em and A..

    my Intro..

Thanks Robert.. Briefly.. Rush, The Who, Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin were my "early" influences.. as I said, I started with guitar, but it was listening to Geddy's dominent style and later the Who that won me over to bass for all of those years. I now play "acoustic" guitar as I don't have...

    my Intro..

Well, due to popular request! ;) I wanted to introduce myself.. I'm a 37 year old, married man, two kids a house and a mortgage! I started playing guitar back in 1982 because I was a huge Van Halen fan but with in 6 months I sold my guitar to a friend, and bought a bass, as I turned into a...

Anyone up for some Martin porn?

Thanks guys, I'll post an intro to myself so you can gleam a bit more, but to answer some here.. Yes, it's a D45 (but more correctly D45V). The V is for "Vintage" which means it has the Pre-War bracing, with the forward shifted and scalloped bracing. The standard D-45 (except those made...
