    Vibe pedal lovers unite!

I actually use a pair of Vibes on my gig board. The first in the chain is one I built and the second is a VL MicroVibe. The MV sounds good, just isn't very reliable so the next time it breaks (the third time) I'll just build another one myself to replace it. The one I built is bullet proof and...

    Hello,...Need help getting started.

I still think you need to search for a Mexican Fender Strat on Craigslist. I see them for $200 - $250 all the time. In fact I have 2 of them here I got for that I use gigging. But if you want a Squier, instead for the same price, go for it.

    First Guitar

My first was so bad they didn't even put a brand on it. 335 copy with a fake Bigsby, bolt neck and a neck made of about 75 layers of thin strips glued together. Probably more glue than wood. Sounded like manure. Played like manure. Heavy headstock wanted to live on the floor. When I bought my...

Im sellin almost all my guitar equipment..

Also late to the show, but here goes. Just another opinion, actually 4 of them. Here we go :: 1. If it's really meant to be, her going away to a Job Camp isn't going to make any difference. You're talking about spending decades with her, what's the miniscule time apart going to mean if this...

    What's Your Skill Level

Hard question to answer. If you say you're good, people thing you're full of yourself. Say you suck and many people believe you. You decide: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=324570055 http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandid=805504...

Would you buy a relic'd guitar?

I buy relics, then I put them away so they stay mint condition. :D :rotflmao: Seriously, like others have said, if it feels and sounds good, who cares what it looks like? If it's not an investment, play the snot out of it and put your own relicing on it. Eventually, all guitars that have been...

    Hello,...Need help getting started.

Welcome, As a long time pro player I'd recommend new guitarists looking at a Strat type guitar to just look for a used Mexican Fender Strat right off the bat. CraigsList.org for your area is a good place to start, I've bought several that I use gigging for under $250, some with hard cases in...

    How do RCA tubes sound?

Personally, I feel older USA built tubes and some European tubes from pre-1970 are pretty much all better than anything new made anywhere. I belong to a club (my wife calls it the Geek Club) of guys who build amps, effects and guitars. I did a blind swap test with 3 different amps using new...

Inexpensive guitar setup: sows ear > silk purse

AFAIC, all of the above except the fret job are part of the normal 'setup' I do on every guitar I own. I have also turned some really cheap guitars into Screaming GigMeisters with little more than finishing what the factory should have in the first place, but doing the same thing to a $500+...

    Jeff Healy's passing

What a drag, and only 41 too. I knew he had been sick for a while. RIP Jeff and condolences to your family on your passing.

My band playing "Wind Cries Mary"

Nice version of that! Good dynamics from the band, especially that one part where they don't blow over the top of you. :rotflmao: Nice to hear someone do a Hendrix cover and not need all kinds of Swirly-Girly effects on top of a cranked Tube Screamer covering up sloppy playing. Not that...

Stuck a mic up in a bar and ...

Thanks for all the props! We used a pair of CAD GXL2200 mics (loaned from a friend) and placed them mostly deciding where they were least likely to be knocked over. :D As a result, my guitar amp was pretty far off axis to the mics and the only thing picked up in the recording was what I had...

Stuck a mic up in a bar and ...

... recorded this with my 3-piece band in a little bar in rural Wisconsin. Excuse the sloppy-stilted guitar timing & lack of swing the song should have, I'd had a few shots of Jose & a couple beers by the time this one came around. That'll teach me to have fun playing ****** guitar in a bar...

For us who are married, does the ring bother you when playing?

Joe's second album was titled: "The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get". I have that one. :dude:

For us who are married, does the ring bother you when playing?

I have no problem playing with my ring on. I wondered about it myself when I first got married, but figured if Jimi, EVH and SRV could play like they did with rings on (and Jimi and SRV wore BIG rings), I'd just be a big baby if I whined about a simple wedding band being in my way. :D I don't...

    "Relic Wallpaper" Squier '51

Nice, I like it. I would have traded you my black body for the blonde though. They only had black when I got mine and black guitars bore me to death. Time to fire up the printer I guess. ;D Cheers
