Seymour Duncan Jazz and JB pups

Used for a very short while before I got some PRS USA pups. No cut wires, simply soldered on then soldered off. All the info is available on the net for reviews and sound. They sounded very well matched and could mix it up a fair bit, sounded really good when used with fairly high gain; equally...

Has anyone else "hit the wall" when it came to learning the guitar?

As some of you are aware, Im still relatively new to playing - about 12/18months or so. I think Ive come on ok so far, and I can play a few bits and pieces, some scales, and my picking is far better. However, I feel like I dont see where I get better from here; I feel like I havent actually...

    I don't get it

We're now paying close to $10/gallon here :( I agree though, I dont understand the mentality of helping less intelligent kids get up to an acceptable standard, when we should really be helping the smarter ones to really push themselves in learning. Its a real shame tbh.

    I don't get it

They tried a similar system here. Not sure if you have them elsewhere, but schools in Scotland (and the UK in general I think), you have school "sports days", typically towards the end of the school term. Loads of sports like sprint, hurdles, barrow race, sack race, egg and spoon race; all the...

    PRS SE coiltap

Heard of people doing it before, not sure how easy it is to make successful though. What SE is it? I only ask as I sold the standard pups from my Tremonti SE and only got about £20 ($40) for the pair. Id imagine youd get a second hand set even cheaper if youre in the US. Id say at that price...

    Who/What inspired you?

Though I liked rock and metal, I never had any real interest in learning the guitar to be honest. I went to see Alter Bridge play Glasgow in June 2005. I was going through a really bad time in my life and wasnt really up for the gig. Was first in the queue, so ended up right at the front of the...

    Floyd Flutter

Ahhh I get it now! Is it just a case of brushing the end of the bar, skimming it lightly?

    Moving out!

I heard good things about the Institute, should be a good time! I studied in Coventry and Glasgow, and both times, Aldi and Lidl were amazing; walk in with £20 and you came out with a whole kitchens worth of food, and most of it is great :D Might struggle to find them in London though, its all...

    Floyd Flutter

I dont know what fluttering is (though Ive probably heard it). Anyone care to explain?

    Has it gone too far?

Thats the quote of the week right there. I think its all about disposable income. I know Im of the frame of mind, "have money, will spend" once Ive paid the bills. Ive still to get a really great amp, but for just now, the two amps I have plus guitar rig do just fine. :)

    String Cleaner and Lubricant

Guilty your honour :( My guitar teacher recalled how a student he once had could ruin a set of strings in 2hours light playing, his fingers were so sweaty when he played. I dread to think what the pH of his digits were, wouldnt have liked to shake hands with him!

    String Cleaner and Lubricant

Im the same, I love Fast Fret. A stick of it lasts ages, so even if its only helping a little, its not a lot of cash spent for prolonging the life of strings. Did I mention its also the best smell in the world?

    Bad Week

Excellent stuff to hear your dads on the mend a bit!

    Bad Week

Thats terrible. Hope your dad picks up, and hope they catch the others involved and recover what stuff they can. The law should be written that, in instances like this, whoever is caught takes the sentence for whoever else was involved, e.g. you catch one person but three were involved; that...

    The Age Old Question

In the hoover, definitely. Failing that, Ive had a few go past the drum seal, and get caught in the filter of the washing machine - i leave them in pockets, stick the jeans in the wash, out come the picks :D

    Fret dressing & polishing.

That sounds like a very good price IMO. I need to find out about this tomorrow, will be interesting to see how much I get quoted!

    Paul Gilbert

I just got "Silence Followed.." the other day, and it just has that fast paced fun, funky feel that a lot of his music has. "The Rhino" is awesome to drive along to :D

    Just discovered guitaring

Thats true. Blasting out downtuned riffs from the likes of Sevendust seems quite useless in the pulling stakes.

How many guitars do you own?

Thats true, and if she tries to come back with a "can you play two guitars at once?" its time to wheel out the Michael Angelo Batio vids!

How many guitars do you own?

I like the cut of your jib. Im only on 2 guitars and 2 amps now, and Im already getting the "why do you need 2 of each" line of questioning. :D
