    Article: Scott Henderson Interview

Sounds like a great conversation Robert. I've been an electronic journalist for about 30 years, and I feel like I was sitting there right with you when you were talking to Scott. People open up so much more when they know you personally have such a great interest and respect for what they do...

    Vox VT30 hiss

Experiment with the noise gate, as others have suggested. I have the AD50VT version, and I ended up dialing down the gate because it cut off the guitar's sustain and added obnoxious noise. Once I figured that out, I started to like the amph much more.

    Tribal Tech X out today!

Thanks for the heads up. Long time Henderson/Tribal Tech fan. "Face First" is one of my favorites from the catalog.

    Article: Egnater Detroit 5 head

Automotive grille cosmetic and Egnater's Detroit roots...? Don't really know.

    Blues Deluxe, First Impressions

At 40 watts, with a decent size cabinet, it's loud & clean, or gritty if you need the dirt. I wasn't worried about clean tones, but I wondered if the BDRI could rock too. Yes, indeed, it can rock. The Peavy Classic 30, an Egnater and Blackstar were also contenders, but I've always liked 6L6...

    HUGE speaker sale

I have a Reaper 30 in a small 15 watt combo. I like it very much, and would describe it as more on the Brit side vs. an American type. Brit-type, but NOT greenback. It seems much more balanced across the frequency spectrum and does not break up like a greenback. More bottom, pleasing mids and...

New Fender on the way...yeah, baby!

This, right here, is some luscious tone! Never owned a Fender amph, but played through a borrowed Twin (back in the 70's) for band rehearsal. If anybody was home, forget it. Twin volume peels paint. I wasn't really sure what to expect with the BDRI, but it seems like a wonderful amp for any...

    Hell Guitars

That burst with the maple board is gonna turn some friggin heads FOR SURE! WOW!

    I'm through with guitars

What you describe is not unusual KITE. As things changed in my personal life--job, marriage, kids, friends, etc,--, there were many, many years where I did not touch any instruments. However, I did keep one guitar because the instrument meant so much to me. I've held on to it for 34 years...

New Fender on the way...yeah, baby!

Pulled the trigger today on a Fender Blues Deluxe. Wanted a combo format with some healthy wattage (40w) to handle most playing situations. I've always liked 6L6 tubes, and the vintage tweed vibe is pretty cool. At 40 watts, it should stay clean enough for me, and I'll stomp on an overdrive...

    Chicago

I always found their funky earlier stuff to be my favorites. Tunes like "Make Me Smile" & "25 or 6 to 4" are some of the best songs ever written. And every time I hear "Feelin Stronger Every Day", I crank it!

    Question for the Tweaker crowd

    Question for the Tweaker crowd

In looking for a new combo, I completely forgot that Egnater released a 40watt, 2-channel version of the Tweaker. At $688 (with current online promo discount), this seems like a KILLER amp for the money. Looks super-versatile, and I love the Celestion G12H30 speaker. They made a more powerful...

    Schecter=Good Value (vid)

Another piece of low/mid-priced gear that really stands out. This Schecter was around (if I recall) $350, and it plays great! I've had it for awhile, but just started noodling with it again the other day. Neck feels silky smooth, Duncan HBs, push/pull coil tap, AND it stays in tune. Lots of...

Article: Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet

Wow...that's all I can say...Wow. I hope to be able to catch this movie in the near future.

    Which would you choose?

Haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I think the Blackstar Club 40 may have the edge at the moment. Blackstar has always intrigued me. Cleans sound good to me, but I don't care for the clips of the guys who have it all gained up like a fizzy buzz saw. Finally found some bluesy overdrive sounds.

    Which would you choose?

Yeah, just to clarify guys...it would be in the 40-50watt range. The Renegade comes in at a whopping 65watts, but also has an 18watt switch. I like the EL34/6L6 tube-selector feature, plus independant EQ for each channel, assignable FX and reverb, and footswitchable boost. Preferably a combo...

    Which would you choose?

How about this...Mrs Radioboy says I can buy myself an amph for my 50th birthday. So, I shall. I'm already set on the lower wattage gear . I'm looking for something to gig with...blues/rock/funky stuff. With about $1000 to spend, I'd like a channel switcher that sounds good right out of the box...

Guitar tips you wish you knew when you started playing

Some good stuff here already. *Learn the fretboard* Even if you play by ear, everything you do will make so much more sense to you, and open up your playing like you never imagined. Jeff Kollman (Glenn Hughes, UFO, Cosmosquad, Bombastic Meatbats) passed along something that really helps. When...

    Cheese Grater...not bad

Right you are Eric. The pedal screams high gain Marshall if you want. In the clip I had the level control almost maxed, and the gain control very low...no more than 9oclock. Thanks for listening.
