    Avatar G212H Traditional Cab...WOW

I still dig my Avatar cab w/ a Celestion Blue in it that I use w/ my THD Univalve. Avatar is great stuff for the money and I found their customer service to be top notch. =-) PJ

Small wattage heads or amps with speaker outs?

THD Univalve would probably fit the bill and can be found rather cheaply used. =-) PJ

    6L6 Vs. EL84

The Egnater amp w/ both would be right up your alley then. =-) PJ

List your favorite "tricks" and productive ideas

A good workout for my right hand is playing "rockabilly octaves" up and down the neck using my pick and pinky to play the high and low "e" strings, respectively. Sounds great w/ a little tremelo and slapback echo. It is also a good way to start thinking about lines going up and down a string vs...

What is your favorite distortion pedal?

My favorite is probably my Tonebone Classic because I like the way it fills out single coils and works w/ other pedals. I think it sounds especially good w/ teles and lipstick p/u's. =-) PJ

    Tube amps with no standby?

I believe that amps that have el-84 power tubes don't need standby switches because these tube just naturally take a while to warm up w/o the switch. You can play when they are warmed up. =-) PJ

    Vibrato Techniques

I disagree w/ classical vibrato not being effective w/ electric. Allan Holdsworth uses it all the time and it can sound awesome. It is more subtle than up and down but still has its uses. Arlen is awesome regardless! =-) PJ

    How’s Your Pick Grip?

Generally, my thumb and first finger do all the work (like EJ or FZ) unless I am picking fast and then my arm comes into play. I usually use my other fingers to play wider intervals or chords. I am not much of a "strummer" in that regard. I find that hybrid picking lets me pretty much do...

    How Thick's Your Pick

I like the green and purple Clayton tortex picks and the 1.52 mm Clayton acetyl picks. The tortex have some snap to them and the acetyls are very round and full sounding. =-) PJ

    Anyone else loving Octavia pedals?

Octave up stuff can be used for lots more than just Hendrix and Trower. If you play double stops you can get a cool ring mod. sound using an octave pedal which can be very cool. Octave pedals can also give your guitar an analog synth sound that can be very cool, especially if you use modulation...

    Tech 21 Character pedals

I have only used it as a stompbox. Not sure how it would sound direct but it sounds great through an amp. =-) PJ

    Pentode vs. Triode....Difference?

    Very nicely explained! =-) PJ

    Solid state amps

I had a TM 60 for a long time. They are great sounding amps. Loved the clean channel w/ a boost pedal. Good recording amps too. =-) PJ

    Tech 21 Character pedals

I have had the Liverpool for a while now and still love it. It does the Vox chimey crunch thing perfectly. I also like it for clean zing and it has taken over my S.H.O. as a clean-zing-boost. It really is a very versatile pedal. =-) PJ

    Compressors...yay or nay?

I think I have had similar experience w/ compressors. I have had a few but tend to not keep them. I find boosts to be more useful for me and they kind of do the same thing anyway. =-) PJ
