    Kiwi shoe polish?

Has anybody used this to darken a maple neck/fretboard? I've got a BSB Affinity Squier. I love the guitar, but that neck is pretty pale, as someone said, like my grandma's legs in the winter. Curious if it works and/or it would have some horrible irreversible effect.

    Got a BSB Affinity Tele!

Man, am I in love. I've been strictly a strat guy, but this new guitar changes everything. I've wanted one for some time and was able to get one recently, and it is amazing. I realize it's the low end of the line, but it sounds awesome to me and has inspired me to do more guitar -> amp...

What do you give the Who?

I give them a B. Pretty rockin for some 60-somethings. Pete was having gear problems (I can relate) but pulled off some good sounds. Roger's voice sounded remarkably good, I thought. Interesting set list. They did the ones you'd expect but threw in a couple other chestnuts.

    Anybody ever shipped to Japan?

I'm selling a set of CS 54 pickups on ebay and someone asked me if I would ship them to Japan. I've never done this before. Are there any issues involved? Unforeseen costs, etc.? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250573043715&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123

How much you paying for phone service?

We have the triple play from Comcast for our landline plus internet plus tv. Then my wife and I have pay-as-you-go cells from Virgin Mobile. I would love to have an iPhone but the data plan is out of the question.

    Help me spend $150

Just got a gift and am looking for something effect-related to spend it on. Truth is, I really like most of what I've got (see my sig). But I'm a sucker for overdrives. I usually go for cheaper stuff but maybe I can get one of them there booteek pedals for this much. I play blues almost...

Any suggestions for a dead iPod?

Mine just mysteriously stopped working the other night. I've got about 1300 songs on there, mostly blues, and I'm missing it something fierce. I tried keeping it plugged in overnight to no avail. :help Bob

    New amp day

Got my Christmas present early -- a used Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. It's in need of some work, so I got a pretty good deal on it. I consulted my amp guy first, and he felt it was worth going for. I love the warm clean and overdriven sounds. A lot fuller than my Pro Jr. I do realize that they have a...

    Need some Holy Grail advice

I just bought a used Holy Grail reverb. I'd read a lot of reviews, talked to a few friends, but I guess I didn't do all my homework. It sounds great, but.... I didn't know that it didn't take batteries, and that they highly recommend only using the included EHX wall wart. Mine came with a 3.5...

Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam

Just heard these guys last night at the Chameleon Club here in Lancaster, PA. WOW! I left feeling assured that the future of blues-rock is in good hands. He's probably more rock than blues, but what a great power trio! He played PRS guitars through Budda amps and really rocked the house. Also...

HR deluxe vs deville vs blues deluxe?

Well, it's that season... Christmas is coming, and my wife just asked me what was on my list. I do not want to disappoint her, so I'm thinking of getting one of the Hot Rod Fender amps. I currently own a Pro Jr, so I'm aware of the good (great sounds) and the bad (sometimes crappy construction...

Difference between Boss chorus and chorus ensemble?

I don't use chorus much but figure I will find uses for it. I currently have a Dano Cool Cat Chorus (old version), but I'm looking at a one of the Boss's. Specifically looking at at CE-3 and a CE-5. The CE-5 is called a chorus ensemble. Why? I like the smaller footprint of the boss pedals and...

Does anyone use a noise gate?

I'm experiencing lots of single coil hum when playing out, and it's starting to get to me. I turn down the guitar between numbers so I can't hear it. I'm wondering if I should get a noise gate and am looking at the Boss NS-2. Any suggestions? Would it kill my tone, sustain, etc.? I'm liking...

    Trying to start a band

I got approached a couple weeks ago about starting a band with someone I had jammed with. He's a guitarist as well and president of a local blues society. He said he really liked my playing. We started talking and found we had a lot of similar tastes in blues, so we're now trying to get some...
