    Another 'best strings' post

I just discovered Darco 10's, made by the Martin Co. I'm really loving them -- tight and bright!

    So...what'd ya get?

Boss RV-3 New bridge pickup for tele from a CS HR52 tele Going to swap out the stock pickup from my Affinity tele and see if I can get closer to Phil Guy's tone (my dream tele tone).

Does anyone use a noise gate?

I'm the OP for this thread. Thanks for all the replies. My main issue now is at home. It's an apartment in a 100-year-old house, and the wiring is brutal. Plus we have dimmer switches, air conditioners, etc. I think the only thing we don't have is a neon sign. All my guitars are...

FS -- Dano FAB pedals, Rocktron Delay

$5 shipping to CONUS per item. If you buy more than one, I'll discount the shipping to reflect that. All in very good condition. Danelectro FAB Distortion -- $10.00. Nice pedal on the cheap. Can work as a clean boost up to ZZ Top land. Danelectro FAB Echo -- $10.00 Great little slapback...

    inexpensive amp for jams

It's not on your list, but I would recommend the Pro Jr. It's my grab and go amp for jams. It's only 15 watts, but it is freaking loud. I always get told to turn down. It's not heavy, either. I play blues with mild overdrive, and all I need nowadays is my guitar and that amp. Amazing tone monster!

    WTB/T: Shure SM58 mic

I was in there on Monday but wasn't looking for a mic. Got several other things. Sad to see that store close. I'll check with him. Thanks for the tip.

    Some Eddie Hazel!!!

Thanks for sharing. What a fantastic guitarist. Underrated and sadly mostly unknown nowadays.

So funny video... Java and .Net

Very awesome vid! But isn't it a bit late for Java to fight this battle and pretend they're the hip young rebels?

Suprising NGD - Squier AFFINITY Tele

Shh. Don't tell everybody, but the Affinity teles are a fantastic bargain. And they sound good. Not just good for the price, but good. I like it so much I've barely touched my strats since I got it. I've kept mine stock for 3 or 4 months and am now putting a Nocaster in the neck. But it's a...

    Cheap dual delay?

I'd love to hear what settings you're using for delay, etc. I bought the RP50 with the same idea in mind - use it for reverb, delay, chorus, other stuff. I've never been able to get sounds I liked out of it. I play blues so I don't use a lot of effects, so I'm looking for something subtle.

    Looking at a new amp..

+1 on the Peavey Envoy. Sounds amazingly good live. I've heard the SCXD, and it's a very versatile amp. Can't go wrong with either.

    Cheap dual delay?

You said cheap, so I would recommend the Danelectro PB&J Delay. It's one of their "mini" series (you know, the little ones all named after deli food). It has a stomp switch to go back and forth between long and short delays and actually sounds quite good. You can pick them up used for pretty cheap.

    Need advice for buying Tele!

I'm not an expert on the prices, but if you look up those Japanese Squiers on ebay, they go for pretty high. You're right, they are generally considered amazing instruments. You might try asking this question in the Squier subforum over at the Fender Forum. There are some people who hang out...

    Which small Fender amp?

Depends on your needs, but I find the PJ to be plenty loud for a small venue. I'm always being asked to turn down at jams, and that's about 1/3 of the way up. I put a Ragin Cajun and JJ's in mine, and it's now my Official Secret Weapon. I ALWAYS get wow comments. Clapton, Beck, and Warren...

FS - Badder Monkey, Allums SD-1, Dean Markley Tuner

FS - Badder Monkey PRICE DROP OK, folks. I'm buying another Squier tele and have to move some stuff out to pay for it. These are all in very good condition, kept in smoke-free home and hardly ever gigged. Paypal only, prices include shipping to CONUS. No trades, thanks. Humphrey-modded...

    Beatles lovers enjoy

Like someone said there in the comments: perfection. Two thoughts -- 1. It gives you an appreciation of how astoundingly good these 4 guys were. 2. This is one example where a tribute band is so close to the real thing that it's jaw-dropping. Thanks for sharing! :applause

Are Any Of You Bored With Stratocasters?

Took my Jimmie Vaughan strat to practice last night. After 3 months of just playing the Tele, I thought the Jimmie might be feeling neglected. No pedals, no picks -- sounded great, and I really enjoyed ALL the pickup positions. Sometimes it's good to take a break and come back fresh.

    Kiwi shoe polish?

Has anybody used this to darken a maple neck/fretboard? I've got a BSB Affinity Squier. I love the guitar, but that neck is pretty pale, as someone said, like my grandma's legs in the winter. Curious if it works and/or it would have some horrible irreversible effect.
