    Bone nuts & saddles

1 and 4. I've changed nut/saddle on around 20 acoustics - all improved volume and sustain. When tone is too bright I prefer to dampen it with ebony saddle. I use heavy guage strings which also mellows tone. I guess option 4 is a reality because there is no reason to change nut or saddle when...

How many here post on YouTube?

I used to have about 20 videos on youtube but noticed they changed the "raw file" names for my more recent additions to a direct path to my C: drive. I also noticed my hard drive taking off like a bat out of hell now and then and suspected youtube was actually directing viewers to video filess...

Epiphone AJ100 Solid top Jumbo Acoustic

Another update - I did not like the bright tone with TUSQ saddle, although volume and sustain were superb. I crafted another saddle from black ebony and notice a slight decrease in brightness, which is what I want. Will be interested to see how long the wood saddle lasts but for now, it sounds...

    Epiphone AJ100 Solid top Jumbo

Update for anyone interested in the AJ-100: Changed plastic stock saddle for Tusq Gibson-style saddle with B-string compensation. Of course, I had to file it to intonate 4, 5 and 6 string plus add the radius. Tusq saddle increased sustain a lot over cheap plastic saddle. Made the guitar much...

    Epiphone AJ100 Solid top Jumbo

Kazz - yes the body curves of this guitar are less figure 8 than most jumbo's. Shape is more like a dreadnought. Epiphone calls it a new shape for jumbo guitars. Bouts are 11.5/4" and 16/4.75". My other jumbo has larger, deeper body. Not sure why they call this one a jumbo. Anyway, I think it is...

Epiphone AJ100 Solid top Jumbo Acoustic

Bought a pair of these from SameDayMusic.com $119 ea w/free shipping. Both arrived, nicely packed in Gator cases, also purchased, next day. For $119 the Epiphone AJ100 is a bargain. Solid spruce top and good woods used all around. Standard scale length and nut width. I went over both guitars...

Gator Case GC-Jumbo-S for Jumbo Acoustic

$99 at Samedaymusic.com and free shipping. Ordered two as part of a guitar order - both arrived next day. Cases fit Epiphone AJ100 Jumbo Acoustic guitars perfectly. There is a small gap at lower bout, about 1/2" on both sides - this allows a variety of guitars to fit, I suppose. Otherwise, the...

    Epiphone AJ100 Solid top Jumbo

More on Epiphone AJ100 - Product Review Friends, It took until this week before the Vintage Sunburst color was available. I ordered a pair of them with matching jumbo acoustic Gator cases; one for my daughter and one for me. They arrived yesterday. I may post reviews for the guitar and case...

    I'm your huckleberry

Elizabeth Shue has always been one of my alltime favorite hollywood hotties. She was great in The Saint - agreed!

    I'm your huckleberry

Good one CB - Tombstone is one of my all time fav movies - one of Val Kilmer's best performances, I believe. I quote several lines from the movie regularly. Keep up the good work with the movie tips. Or should I say, "go ahead, skin it... skin that smoke wagon and see what happens"!

Thanks Strum - good advice. Thanks also, Algonquin - I'll check that link.

    ACK!!! no pressure... no pressure...

CB - I notice more responses here than at WGF. I've been out of town and catching up to where I'm peeking around in the forums again. Way to go on the backup job and challenge! The only story I have that is similar may not be encouraging but in an odd way, I think it will be... I had called the...

    Epiphone AJ100 Solid top Jumbo

Thanks Strum - yeah, I've already read those. They are old, from 04/05 and so I doubt they pertain to recent AJ100 - would you agree? Also, I wasn't sure they were talking about the same guitar because they called it AJ-1. I'm hoping some players here can tell me first hand.

SAMSON C01U USB Condenser Mic for PC

Update: After phone calls and emails to Samson and attempting everything in the book to get the USB mic up and running - I returned it. End of story.

    Epiphone AJ100 Solid top Jumbo

I'm sure there's a thread or two about this one here somewhere. Some of you may recall that I got my daughter started on acoustic guitar at Christmas with a low end Yamaha classical. She's been playing it every day and making huge progress! She loves to play my maple jumbo cheapie when visiting...

3-Member Group @ Avanti (Dallas, TX)

Not sure where to post this one. Was in Dallas this past week, attending a conference. Friday night some friends and I got reservations at a nice Italian restaurant on southwest side of town, called Avanti. We were delighted to find a 3-member group setting up: base, lead guitar a very...
