    Im a Newbie

Welcome! Maybe you could be an advocate of creating an Ibanez forum! (:rotflmao:) Edit: I appologize. Joe Satriani plays an Ibanez, so it's all good.

    Keeping a bass line

Some blues definitely use base lines, and I've been paying attention to the ones that do now. Going to learn Ice Cream Man this week, definitely, and Hit The Road Jack is good too--I'll know both soon. This'll keep me occupied for a bit, so I might not be giving as much bad advice on this...

    Keeping a bass line

Admittedly, it isn't very prominent in that song. The A string, especially in the beginning is palm muted, and serves as the base line. Maybe it would have helped if I had said that...

    Spider bites?

Okay, well, I'd check to see if you can climb up walls now. Take tot's advise and make yourself a suit!

    Spider bites?

I would highly advise calling somebody to get you to a hospital. I come from a medical-dominated family, so, I know that getting to a doctor is the best advice for you. You really don't want to mess around with spider bites.

    B.B. King's biggest influence

    Sounds about right.

    Keeping a bass line

By picking a low (bass) string while also strumming and/or picking, it sounds as if there is more than one guitarist playing at the same time. I've always been quite fond of riffs that use these, and I've had a bit of trouble finding songs that do. Here's what I've got in respect to songs that...

    Predictability

Love that line. Predictability is good and bad. It's just a matter of opinion, IMHO :D

    B.B. King's biggest influence

I think it's evolution applied to music. What about Robert Johnson? It is quite difficult to say who truly invented the blues. I'd have to say that it was a team effort. Mark, it certainly wasn't DH.

    B.B. King's biggest influence

    That's really interesting! I didn't know B.B. King HAD any influences.:thwap:

    playing and singing

This works quite well. Also, there's the option of trying to sing and play the song (at the same time) extremely slowly, until you start to feel comfortable. It really, truly doesn't matter how long it takes until you get the song down. But, once you do, all singing and playing will be much...

    Guitar resonance

Yeah, just to reiterate, keep it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    The Ruts

To cover a few things: Strum, sorry about the back. But, hey, if you want to keep positive, tell yourself that the reason you got into the zone is because of your back! If I consider myself in a rut, a time when I seem to be playing similar material when improvising, I'll listen to...

Your biggest influence as a musician

    Allmans, Clapton, Hendrix, Young.

Why is speed such a big deal for many guitar players?

Similarly to what marnold said, the key is to not stay at the same pace to sound good (like Robert said, playing a 20 minute string of 64th notes gets boring). If a guitarist has mastered the art of playing extremely quickly, yet accurately, I'd consider him/her a very good technical player...
