    Getting a laptop

A cool thing for you Mac users is 'VMware Fusion' ($70-$80). Google it. Basically allows you to run Windows as a 'virtual machine' on top of the Mac OS. Then run your Windows Apps on the virtual Windows machine. So when Windows crashes, hangs, or whatever it is only the virtual machine that...

    Tuner Pedal

Hub - check out these links. The noise you hear is likely due to the LEDs. I have the same pedal - seems some folks with even the latest models have this issue, not just pedals from their 'first lot' as mentioned in these links. You may be able to work around it by changing the placement in...

    Boss Micro BR ?

I have one and like it a lot, but must admit I have not even come close to using it to it's full potential.

    Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo

Checked out these amphs a bit at a local store - It seems the Classic 30 (1x12) puts out more volume, at least what I perceived in a short comparison, than the VK112 50 watter. At lower settings I think the 30 seemed closer to the VK212 at the same volume setting. Not that I'm just looking for...

    Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo

Thanks Spudman! Good guidance for sure. Actually, these amphs I’m referring to are brand new - special sale price... :)

    Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo

Appreciate all the feedback! I have the chance to pick up the VK 112 for $350, and although I do not really need it now, I have G.A.S. :D That, and I thought I could use it when I start to jam with my cousins in the very near future - just for fun in their garage sort of band. To throw a...

    Peavey ValveKing 112 Combo

Would the 50W VK 112 be good for a band practice situation, and be able to get over a drummer, or would the 100W 212 be much better suited for that as well as small gigs?

    Foghat

Thanks for the Foghat.com link! Used to be a big fan myself. Actually I'm sure I have a cassette of theirs - wish it was vinyl.

    Looper Pedal/Importing External files

To e-mail Boss you can go to rolandus.com, click on support, then "Roland backstage". You need to sign up with a username/pw, then you can use their e-mail support. I think you can get there from bossus.com "Boss backstage" as well.

    Looper Pedal/Importing External files

I was traveling and missed all the fun here... Good reminder on the guitar input jack. I have not tried this yet, but I remember reading this in the manual, just took a look and it is on page 22: "NOTE Be sure to connect the CD or digital audio player to the AUX IN jack. If anything is...

    Acoustic Strings

I have the Elixer Polyweb on my acoustic now. The coating is very thick, making the strings nice a smooth with I liked at first. Definitely not as bright sounding as non-coated strings, but I liked the feel for the trade-off in brightness, and grew to like the warmer sound (seemed a good...

    Boss RC-2 Noise

Thanks for the great tips. I experimented with powering the RC-2 alone with the 1Spot and running the other pedals by battery. That reduced the noise oscillating with the looper rhythm pattern significantly, and eliminated the higher pitch noise. As soon as I have a chance I plan to try the...

Mad Monkey vs. SD-1 vs. OS-2

M29 - which AD50VT amph models do you run the Monkey/DS-1 through?

    AD30VT cutting out/volume drop

Yes, thanks. I have done that in the past... press channel + write while powering on, I think once the channel LEDs blink, release buttons, then press write. Don't interrupt until all light's flash. I read that as well about the contact cleaner. I'm just glad my amph seems ok.

Now, THAT'S what I'm talkin' about!!

Fantastic – much better with the pearl and red!

Mad Monkey vs. SD-1 vs. OS-2

The DS-1 is a bit thin on it's own. The Monkey adds some good tone to it. I've been running the Monkey with gain around 2-3, but the DS-1 lower 10-11.

    Boss RC-2 Noise

I’m currently running the RC-2 in front of the AD30VT, then the Bad Monkey, DS-1, and a PlanetWaves Tuner to the guitar. If I leave the RC-2 on a phrase location (1-11) that has a loop saved, even with the loop stopped and the level controls for both the phrase and guide (drums) all the way off...

Mad Monkey vs. SD-1 vs. OS-2

So I ended up getting a DS-1 from the GC on President's Day - I would have been quite content with the Bad Monkey alone for a quite while, but could not pass up the sale price. Works very well with the Monkey as others have suggested. I run the DS-1 in front of the Monkey. I was almost...

    AD30VT cutting out/volume drop

In case anyone is interested, I thought I'd post an update... I've been giving the AD30VT a workout at times since, and I think I narrowed the issue down to the input jack connection. The cables I'm using have a gold coating on the plug and although I have not removed/re-inserted the plug in...

    Speaking of Keyboards...

You're welcome Tone. I'm not sure on the lessons... around my area I see guitar lessons going for $22-$29 a half hour, a little less if you pay for them up front by the month or more at a time.
