    Hofner vs Ktone??

Hello All, I'm looking to get an electric travel guitar as I'll be on the road for the next 3 months. I see that there is a Hofner reissue of their Shorty travel guitar (Chinese made) and one from Ktone (Korean??) that looks like a carbon copy of the Hofner. Has anyone played either of these...

    Roland VGA-3

Yo! I just picked up a mint Roland VGA-3 modeling amp, and the Roland GK-3 pickup system. Thinking about mounting it on my Guild Peregrine tonight and giving it a try. Interested in any feedback from people using this pickup/amp setup, and any tips for mounting/fine tuning. Thanks! CT

    Slowing down songs

Another way is if you're a Pro Tools user (ver. 7.4 & above) you can use "elastic time" to change the speed of the solo part but still keep the same pitch. CT

Which Acoustic Guitar Kit is Best?

OOOOOOO, a hand carved arctop. Now I'm salivating. I think I'll stick with one of the easy kits to start with. My buddy and I are going to do this together and he has a fully outfitted woodworking shop. I already have a good collection of Stew Mac tools, and what ever tools we don't have...

Thanks! I'll absolutely check these out. Are they available in vinyl? I'm sort of a vinyl collector. CT

Which Acoustic Guitar Kit is Best?

Wow! I didn't even know Martin had a guitar kit. Looks like a nice project. I also found another one that looks similar to the Martin kit: http://www.lmii.com/CartTwo/Secondproducthead.asp?CategoryName=++Instrument+Kits So has anyone built one of the kits that are out there? I'd be...

Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes Edited: I forgot last names.

As a bassist, I am most comfortable playing with fingers. Now that I'm playing and composing on the guitar, I've really struggled with holding a pick. I swear I just can't do it. Even a thin pick feels really foreign, and I always feel lost without the direct contact to the strings. then I...

    New Progressive Rock Bands

Spocks Beard I just got turned on to these guys, but it looks like they've been around for 10 years. Very 70's sounding but in a good way. Really like some of the signature changes and guitar work.

    Guild Peregrine - Which Strings??

Hello all, Just got my new (used but new to me) Peregrine back from the shop. I'm thinking I'd like to change the strings. When I run electrified the sound is a bit bright. I'm primarily a bass player, so I'd like to find strings that have more "bottom" to them. Does anyone know what the...

Which Acoustic Guitar Kit is Best?

Hi all, I've been thinking about building a "kit" guitar. Anyone have experience with this kind of a project? And what kits/suppliers can you recommend?? I was looking at the ones at www.grizzly.com, but I'm sure there's more. Thanks, CT

    Saying Hi from PA, USA

Welcome! "Then we got a dog. A beagle to be more precise... and the sound of the guitars scared the living hell out of him. So I put them away for 12 years. " Wow! I wish the sound of guitars would scare the hell out of my neighbors beagle. That dog never quiets down. However, the up side...

    1/11/09 Greetings!!

Yes I really like my MIJ Bullet. It has the 3/4 size Strat body, with an all maple Tele neck on it. I think the neck may have been a fluke at the factory. This is back when they were changing hands from Fender to CBS. CT

    1/11/09 Greetings!!

Great questions! Your are correct about hybrids. Laminated back and sides, hand carved spruce top. Eberle is a German company that went out of business in 2005. I was lucky enough to get my bass from Ideal Music in N.Y. They are going out of business and had warehouses full of NOS...

    Anyone Playing a Guild Perigrine?

Very similar Yes, they look very similar, except the Guild has nothing on the front except strings. I don't know how the Godin guitar sounds as I've never played one. But my A5 produces some really nice sounds. It does tend to feed back at high volume which is something that Guild says it's...

    1/11/09 Greetings!!

Which carved top Hi! My URB is a 1992 German Eberle hybrid. It has a carved top and laminated back and sides. I actually just bought an Eastman hybrid cello for my daughter, so I guess we have 2 carved tops in the house now. ;D

    Anyone Playing a Guild Perigrine?

I'm looking at buying one so I wanted to see if anyone out there has experience with them. I tried one last night and couldn't believe how nice the action and neck feel. And while the strings weren't of my liking, the sound was truly amazing! Very much like a true acoustic guitar.

What platform? Hi, Are you running Audacity on Windows or a Linux distro? And if Linux, which one? I recently loaded Ubuntu Studio, but I've not been able to get Audacity to work.
