    SRV-Soldano Amplifiers Connection

That was the last amp I built, although not an SLO clone.... but my power section is a pair of JJ 6V6S tubes running at 460V on the plates... The preamp is 4 gain stages with no cathode follower before the tone stack.. it doesn't do "clean" that well... but I am about to change it up a bit...

I think that Soldano's have that High Gain reputation, because they will do that, and do it well... and they were "the" amp in the 80's Hair band scene... but look at players like Warren Haynes, Dickey Betts, Buddy Guy, George Harrison, Mark Knopfler, Steve Miller, Gary Moore, Charlie Sexton...

if you like blues, you owe it to yourself to at least get Texas Flood, SRV's first one... Live Alive is killer as well, and he was stoned out of his gourd during the concert they recorded it at, according to reports.. but damn it RIPS

I'll bet that would have put his tone over the top.. and the resale value of a Ibanez TS-9s would have dropped to "normal" levels.

I'll bet this amp rips! http://www.soldano.com/Soldano_Guitar_Amplifiers_Company/Stevie_Ray_Vaughn_Soldano_Story.htm History has established that Stevie Ray Vaughan created his colossal tone through a wall of extremely loud, relatively low-gain amps that were often driven by a Tube Screamer...

Proper Guitar Storage and care for Electric Guitars

I only own 3 real hard cases, and 2 are for strat style guitars, the other is for my Ovation 6-string. I have 4 hanging on the wall and the rest of the electrics under the bed in Gig bags, the Tiesco Del Ray and the 12-string acoustic are in their stock "cardboard" cases... My old Norma...

Catastrophic failure in the middle of operation? No Smoke? My money is on a bad solder joint, OR a failed wire.... Can you describe this "Horrible Noise"?

Thanks, The amp is my design, pair of 6v6s power section, 4 gain stages in the preamp... I made the point to point boards, bent the sheet metal chassis, etc... it will do about 15 watts It doesn't do "clean", if you know what I mean :dude
