thick coating on my Dot's fretboard?

Should not be anything on there at all. They use pretty good rosewood, uncoated.

Opinion on current production Sheraton IIs..?

Epiphone has had its own factories in China and now in Indonesia for some years now. The quality of Epiphone guitars made in either place has been very good and improving for about 10 years now, and EVERY recent Epi guitar or bass I have bought has been way above expectations. I have not had any...

    bridges for Korean G-400's

Look for Gotoh TOM type bridges. They are not expensive and are high quality and a bit wider allowing for better intonation. I have replaced factory Gibson bridges on some of my guitars with Gotohs and they are a big improvement. They do make them in sizes specifically for Asian-made guitars and...

    Best moderate priced acoustic

ALL my acoustics combined are less than $500. I have a Yamaha, a large jumbo model with gold hardware and white binding on the fret board and around the spruce top. Beautiful, jazzy tone and great playability. Got it years ago for well under $100 factory refurbished. I also have an imported...

Re-release of Simon and Garfunkel-Live 1969...NOT what I usually listen to, but fine

performances of their earlier music, plus "new songs"... They took members of the LA Wrecking Crew studio musicians who played on their albums and helped create their music with them on a 6 city tour, and recorded it. This is a new release, and the sound at least of the little I have heard of...

Anyone tried selling gear to guitar center?

I once worked for a small indie guitar shop-the owner would pay about 35-45% of the selling price, depending on how fast he thought it would sell. I saw him buy a usable old Supro tube amp for $120, then sell it on the phone for $350 inside of 5 minutes. The selling of instruments is not about...

Any love for Chicken Foot? I kind of discovered them accidentally recently,

and the more I hear of their music the more I like the band. Michael Anthony seems to love playing a bigger part in the music, Satriani seems to love being in the band and they all seem to be having a great time making music. mark

What String Gauge Do You Use?

I started as a bass player, and I used 13's on my guitars...My hands are now OLD bassplayer's hands and I am down to 9's...Ernie Ball for many decades now. mark

    Randall Commander II - RG90A

I bought one of these Commander II amps around 1976. I was playing a '68 Les Paul Custom through it...I don't think I ever turned it up louder than 4...I recall it had pretty good tone for blues for a solid state amp at that time...I know I sold it, but I don't recall any details of that... mark
