as was said before could be a matter of cleaning the pot, but i'd say its a cold or broken solder...can happen quite easily and is easily fixed. :)

nope, just bought em so there was now dis/re-assembling going on... I'll give that swapping hot+ground wire idea a shot n see how it goes... apart from the out of phase issue, these pickups honestly sound amazing compared to the stock Gibsons, a real nice vintage tone. a good purchase I reckon.

So i decided as an experiment to throw a set of tonerider alnico IV PAF's (cheap as chips) into my gibson sg special to see how they sounded, and to be honest they beat the piss out of the stock gibson 490 alnicos that were in there... my prob is that after wiring em according to dimarzio wiring...

I think i may do just that, gonna do an overhaul on the guitar soon anyway, new pickups and then maybe a pro-setup...sure its not too expensive in Dublin so i might as well get it done...it'll b worth it in the long run. thanks :)

I have to say, all the advice about geting a metronome and playing along with it has really helped. My synchronisation is alot better, I've just been endlessly running through alternating chromatics and throwing in string skipping and its helped me enormously. I'm alot faster than I was 2 weeks...

hi, relatively new on the mod scene, just wondering if a standard gibson pickup, like a 490R alnico (neck position on an SG) could be wired similarly or does this mod require a higher output pickup like the Burstbucker or Lace that's mentioned??? Andy

sorry for only replyin now, didnt see this post for a while. In the bands i'v been in its been mostly Led Zep - AC/DC - Thin Lizzy stuff and then anything upto Queens of the Stoneage and Kings of Leon. Its always good to be that eclectic, more gigs = more money :) you gig with covers band?

personally the dvd et al would appeal more to me. I like the idea of a succinct tutorial for blues (in this instance) in a neat package. That as i said is my preference, each to their own, and i can imagine there would be a multitude of others who would prefer the online interactive experience...
