Guitar humidifiers - when are they needed?

Here in Michigan, I have to begin worrying about humidity around Oct-Nov when the furnace begins to run. I use an Oasis humidifier which is suspended by the strings in the sound-hole. When it gets really dry, I'll add a Dampit or sponge in the headstock area of the guitar case. Its usually a...

    LP toggle switch/pickup repair help

After opening up the back covers, I didn't find any loose connections so I suspect the problem is the switch itself. Didn't realize that is a typical issue with Epi's. Thanks for all the input.

    LP toggle switch/pickup repair help

Need a little help/advice. I'm pretty much a newb when it comes to electronics repair. I'm not getting any sound when engaging the "treble" pickup on my Epi LP when the toggle switch is in the middle or down position. Is there a quick easy way to determine if the problem is the toggle switch...

    JamMan question

The JamMan is the best practice tool that I have invested in. I've had mine for a couple of years and use it just about every time I practice. I bought the 2gb media card right away. My favorite ways to use it: - play a chord progression in various keys and then practice soloing, for...

    Scales

I began taking lessons again a couple of months back and my new instructor basically had me utilizing scales from the get-go. Now I use them as a warm-up to start every practice session. They have helped me to find my way all over the fretboard. A typical warmup ifor me is to play the 5...

    $300 blonde BJ day!!!

DVM - would you happen to have any sound clips before and after the speaker swap? I'd be interested to hear the difference. Thanks, Sam

    Pedaltrain pedalboards

Robert - I purchased the PT-2 with the softshell bag earlier this year. It works great for occasionally haulin' the few pedals I have. Keeps things nice and neat. Still have plenty of room for more. Now I just need to learn how to *use* my pedals. :) I agree, the big one looks really huge.

    ONE (1) ZYS Available

That's a "screamin" deal on a great pedal. You won't regret it!

    JamMan power

Thanks for the advice Spudman and ted. Probably best to keep the looper on it's own power supply. After a little digging, I couldn't find an adapter that would allow to include the jamman in a daisy chain.

    JamMan power

Question for those of you with a Digitech JamMan... Can I use a power adapter other than the one that comes with the JamMan, i.e. one of those 1-spot/daisy chain power supplies or possibly a DC Brick? Not sure if they make an extension adapter that will fit the power jack of the JamMan (or for...

    Your First Concert

Kiss - Olympia Stadium in Detroit, 1978. A local band, The Rockets ("Turn Up The Radio") was the opening act. Couldn't believe how loud it was. My ears rang for week after...but it was well worth it! :D

    Travel guitar recommendations?

Hey Jim, thanks for the recommendation. Just curious, did you try some of the other Traveler models before you settled on the Speedster?

    Even HIM?!?!?

Hey DVM - the new Clapton autobiography is very good. Just finished reading (er, I mean listening to) it while on the road this week. Interesting to learn about the life of my guitar hero from his perspective.

    Travel guitar recommendations?

Thanks for all the advice. I tried a Martin Backpacker at my local guitar shop yesterday. I was a little disappointed in that it felt kinda clumsy, difficult to balance in my lap and play. I tried a baby taylor and a little martin as well, both felt and sounded great, played very nicely...

    Travel guitar recommendations?

Anyone have an recommendations or experience with acoustic or electric travel guitars (e.g. Traveler, Martin Backpacker, etc.)? I've been doing quite a bit of travel for work lately and miss being able to practice during the week. I don't feel comfortable taking my existing guitars on a plane...

    Boss BR-600 Digital Recorder

I have the BR600 and like the ability to take it along with you anywhere. I use the built-in drum machine to keep tempo when I practice or get together with friends to play. Have not done too much recording with it yet, but have found it very versatile and the onboard mics are quite good...

    Another New Member

Welcome Adrian. I'm sort-of a neighbor of both you and M29 (kinda in-between you guys). Grew up in the 'D' and eventually moved my way out to Waterford. You will like it here. Lots of great folks and info.

    Rodrigo Y Gabriela Guitar Tips

I saw them on Letterman earlier this year, which immediately prompted me to download their album from iTunes. Interesting way to implement percussion! I think I read somewhere that they got started as part of a metal band.

Advice / Feedback needed on Digital recording devices

I purchased a BR-600 earlier this year, prior to the birth of our baby, thinking that I actually might have time to learn to use it after the baby was born. I've only spent a couple of hours with it, but I think it is a very versatile recorder. I was impressed with the recording quality. The...

    Recent mispurchase...

Anyone else have a chance to try the mesa 5:25? There is a good review in the July '07 Guitar Player mag. btw: In the same issue, in an interview with Tommy Shaw (Styx, Damn Yankees, etc.) he mentions that he uses Vox Valvetronix amps for his studio work.
