Do you agree with this guy?

So as technology advances we're all to sound the same? No ta. And when electrics kill off acoustic guitars, we'll all be playing MIK Strats for every sound the manufacturers allow us! This smacks of the sort of evil Sony brought to recorded music (nearly). BTW I play through a Yale SS slaved...

I gotta say, 'Happy New Guitar' Nothing quite like a LP and the 60 should be a dream to play. Jealous as hell.

    5 Albums that shaped you

Oh this is a hard one. My number one is dead easy though. The Gods, Genesis LP. So full of classic rock before we knew it was classic rock. It taught me barre chords and some great ideas on solos. Thanks Joe, if you're reading this. 2, John Mayall, Blues from Laurel Canyon. Excellent intro to...

Not on e-bay: Used 1930 Martin OM-45, Some Wear, Up for Grabs

There's some interesting items in there. The '53 LP took my eye but I think it is undervalued. The '61 LPSG Custom has been on offer for a while at £10,500 and no takers. I suspect that may be a good deal if you happen to have a bit of cash lying around.(I sold mine for £230 back in '77 ****) Brian

Hi Robert. Would that I could but I wouldn't feel right as I don't have one at the moment. In the past I had a '74 Black Beauty (P90's) and as soon as I finished paying for it (too heavy for long gigs) I swapped it for a '61 LP Custom SG shape, which was my lover for a few years. I had a nice...

Good tip on an affordable, good quality Mandolin

Mandolin isn't so different from playing guitar up around the 12th fret. Also there's less need for chords as it's primarily a lead and jangly background instrument. Dave Pegg of Fairport Convention and, for a while, Jethro Tull, is a giant bass player with hands like bunches of bananas, but he...

Hi guys (and girls?) Just found you and looking to share advice and experiences along the way. I'm an ancient hippy blues/rocker with occasional wanderings into metal, folk and (shhhh country) Owned and played some nice guitars over the years. I prefer not to pigeon-hole genres or kit you can...
