What is happening here? No one has posted in this section in almost a month.

Isn't anyone buying new guitars anymore? Hard to believe. This used to be a really cool place to discuss guitars.

I bought a PRS SE Santana in Santana Yellow recently and think it is a really cool guitar, light and really high quality with a very good stock sound. I'll have to post a picture.

I also put a black pickguard on my deep wine nitro finished Fender Highway One HSS with black pickup covers. It looks and sound real good. I haven't played that guitar in quite a while and it looks good with that unsightly white pickguard replaced with a black one. In the color scheme it almost matches my Gibson SG Standard heritage cherry with the big black pickguard.

I hope you guys didn't sell off all your nice guitars for a fraction of what you paid for them.

Hopefully we can get some more interesting posts onto the forum as we move forward.

Yeah it's really odd that they're aren't many posts these days. Duffy contrats on PRS Santana I've always wanted one of those in the color you got it in too!!! I've heard that the SE's are a really nice guitar for a fraction of the price. My latest couple pf guitars are a Gretsch White Falcon and an Epiphone MIC Casino. The Falcon is a dream to play. The Casino plays well also. I had originally wanted a Epi Elitist, had money set aside for it but tax time came around and good ole' Uncle Sam took half of the money for the Elitist so had to settle for the MIC Casino. Plus the Elitist was really hard to find anyone who had them for sale!!

I know someone River, that has an Epi Elitist LP and he likes it a lot.

The Santana is a cool, really well made, great sounding, import guitar. I think they have a reputation for being one of the best at QC producing guitars. It is also light and the mahogany is really nice with a natural color tone to it and the flamed mahogany neck is super cool. It also feels great to me and all I can say is that it is a pleasure to play.

A store by me just picked up Gretch and they have a few nice ones in stock and I see special orders coming thru a lot, but not a White Falcon yet; plus I checked out that Black Falcon in the catalog and it looks super cool. A lot of great songs were played on the White Falcon, for sure. I would love to have one of those. Where are they made anyway?

The local Marshall dealer also sent my JMD 212 back to the company because it broke down three times in less than six months. Marshall sent me a brand new DSL40C at no charge. I had to wait a while because they were in great demand at the time, but it is a very cool amp with four main voices, EL34's. Clean to high gain sounds. Very fun to play with. I think it would make a cheap guitar sound great. It goes to show the value of a real decent amp in your rig. Of course, to each their own.

A lot of my friends around here are playing old point to point handwired Fenders, etc. I'm thinking about having a guy around here hand make me one of his amps. It's just as cheap as buying a new pcb board one, with the chips, etc.

Sounds like you got some cool new guitars. Saving up for that White Falcon was a good idea.

It ain't easy, cuz it's all crammed into my 13' x 12' "man cave". I'm going to be relocating to a finished room in our basement where I'll have a LOT more room to spread out, but it's gotten ridiculous in here! Here's a few shots looking around the room:

My current pedal chain, which is in constant flux, since I build most of 'em myself:

My new PRS Studio with my Heritage H555 to the right and my "pedal pile" and a bunch of cases to the left:

Boy, that's a tough one. I like different guitars for different purposes. Not counting the new PRS (which is a fabulous instrument!), the R9 is great for crunch tones and that fat, mid-rangey Les Paul tone. So is the Heritage, and it plays like butter--very fast action. But I guess I will always be a "Strat guy" at heart--that was the first electric guitar I ever owned, and I bought another one when I started to get back into playing in the late '90's. Nothing feels as comfortable in my hands as a Strat. So I'd probably go with my American Standard (the sienna-burst Strat in the photo above) as my overall favorite, PRS aside....

Really nice PRS. Did you get that off the recent list that Guitar Center had out that discounted '13 year models, very substantially? There were some great guitars on that list at very affordable prices.

Exactly. Was marked down 41% from the regular GC price (not MSRP!). And I got another $100 off for a small ding down low on the front. Beautiful instrument, plays like a dream, sounds fabulous. More pics here: http://www.thefret.net/showthread.php/21867

Yeah. Great buy and a super beautiful guitar. I can only imagine what it sounds like and feels like. I would love to jump on one of those deals sometime. I suppose that they still have some of them left but I haven't seen an updated list. I guess it would be a matter of calling around to the places on the list to try to find something nice.

Congratulations on that nice guitar.

Where is the GC in Albany? Near the big stores in Latham? I have never seen it but have probably been past it or close to it many times.

Thanks DVM. I know right where that is. I drive by there frequently and stop in Latham to shop. I'll have to check it out. I follow the Northway to Lake George, my hometown. Have you ever played the clubs there or been there? I suppose so.

I "finally" was able to save the list to "Open Office - Writer", which is what I have been using exclusively since I retired. It seems to work well enough for me.

Thanks for the list. There are probably many guitars still on that list.
