There's a L-O-N-G feature article in this month's Guitar Player about Paisley, who turns out to be a total gear freak. He's got some gorgeous stuff, in particular some custom made Dr. Z amps that are to die for, including one model called a "Z-Wreck" that was a collaboration between Mike Zaite (Dr. Z himself) and the legendary Ken Fischer of Trainwreck amp fame. He also has a '62 Vox AC-30, a Fender Vibro-King, an 80W Victoria Tweed Twin, and an original Trainwreck Liverpool 30 that must be worth a fortune. In addition to a couple of Fender Tele's, he has a bunch of them that are custom made by a luthier named Bill Crook. It's nice to hear him making the best of all that primo gear!!

If I was ever told that I would have a shot at playing on stage with Vince Gill or Albert Lee, I think I'd have to puke out of sheer terror. I'd be too busy standing there, with my mouth agape, wondering what the hell I would do when I came to be my turn to solo. The funny thing is, I'm a rocker at heart. I was raised on country, though, and good pickin' is just that, regardles of genre!

DVM, that Brad Paisley article is awesome! That's what got me started at looking at the country pickers. Paisley's tones are incredible, too, IMHO.

I only dream of being able to slay country babes with countryish licks (hey that sounded kinda good...) like the gentlemen above. I always thought country players were the best just cause their licks were so different.

Albert Lee is fantastic. Not only his country picking work is great, but he is also a very good Rockabilly guitarist.

Never heard of Scotty Anderson, but he smokes like the rest. Great players all. The only thing that keeps me from listening to Brad Paisley more often is that although he has a good voice, those *really* cheesy lyrics get to me after a while.

Do he have an instrumental album, or perhaps one with good country cheddar in place of Velveeta?
