    Tuner Pedals

I've got myself Morley Accu-tuner. Pluses: - Morley is usually in 1% of brands NOT excluded from GC discount coupons. :D - very big LED display, good for such semi-blind mole as me. Minuses: - battery cover door is on screw, so you can't change battery without screwdriver.

    Michael Kelly Patriot limited

I have Patriot Limited with passive Rockfields for 2.5 years and this is my number one. I'm so bond to it, that planning to spend $350 to refret it with SS medium-jumbo frets, although it's more than half of the guitar's price. Mine isn't too heavy, btw - about the weight of LP studio.

Heads up: GC deal on DOD milk box compressor

It's probably gone. "Add to cart" button disappeared for it. Nevermind then...

Heads up: GC deal on DOD milk box compressor

Unfortunately, I must not buy anything guitar-related for a while, but wanted to give a heads-up to forum members: GC now has DOD milk box listed for $49. Nothing states that it is not new. Maybe they just sell out rest of stock. Btw, MF already reports DOD milk box as discontinued.

NGD - Godin Icon Type 3

2 bcdon: go away, GASman! :mad Seriously, I was afraid of the day somebody posts pics of Godin Icon. It's too beautiful...

Rickenbacker, Son Wants One so howabout a Harm?

2 sunvalleylaw: I don't know how close does it sound, but Richmond Dorchester (by Godin) certainly looks somewhat like Rickenbacker. Quality should be high as well. It's not a budget guitar, but still only third of Rick price (new).

    Vox Valvetronix

Sounds strange to me as well. From one low-watt sim. amp to another low-watt sim.amp. What for? Either consider something more powerful, if you are going to jam, or switch to low-watt tube, if you are just looking for better sound.

Thoughts on Which Strat to get?

If you aren't very strict on Fender logo, then you can order Carvin Bolt with lots of options. (mmm, stainless steel frets and Sperzel locking tuners :drool ) The sound may differ from Fenders because of pickups, but should be pretty close - after all, it's still single coil bolt-on guitar with...

    Stuck in improvising...

Thanks for advice everybody! So for I decided to concentrate on following: 1) to my shame, I found that can't sing neither for real nor "in my head" such simple things as ... major/minor pentatonic. The funny fact is that I have Ionian scale set in my mind forever since school years :) So I...

    BestBuy & Hagstrom.

Looks like BestBuy (and for those who doesn't know, yes, they sell guitars & gear both online and in stores) got some big deal with Hagstrom. Their "new arrival" guitar section is flooded with all types of Hagstroms.

    inexpensive amp for jams

Thanks for congrats, guys! Today my teacher (blues pro) spent about an hour with my Tube 60, and almost all he told me, confirms what I've read about Vypyr from different sources. 1) Fender amps (esp. Twin) suck and sound synthetic in both clean & gain channels. 2) he liked Classic (Peavey...

    inexpensive amp for jams

Got my Vypyr tube 60. Bad thing: can't update firmware, so $25 for USB-midi cable are spent idle. Good thing: so far haven't had any problems with factory firmware v.1.55, so update isn't critical. Long-term reliability is a big question, so knocking on wood and praying for factory warranty...

    Stuck in improvising...

^^^ Yep, this sound quite relative to the pro's advice I mentioned. Pretty much no special 'secret' techniques, just playing along with singing, the more the better. 2 Tig: I do jam along backtracks a lot, it helps to some extent. I have a feeling, though, that won't make much more progress...

    Stuck in improvising...

Hi everyone. Advice needed. I'm stuck in blues learning. Past half year practice & lessons don't really satisfy me. Let me describe what bothers me: I currently can play major/minor pentatonics in all five positions along fretboard, can switch between them (I->IV chords), know typical chord...

    Carvin Guitars

    Yep, that was it, thanks! Bolt-on & set-through necks 25.5, set necks 25. Carvin doesn't make 24.75.

    Carvin Guitars

My Bolt+: with SS frets you probably will never need a refret. And Sperzel tuners are nice too. Upd.: hmm... I thought images are embedded straight into post. I see them as links.

    inexpensive amp for jams

Pulled the trigger on Vypyr tube 60 (online via MF). Will test it extensively upon arrival, and if software glitches are significant, will return & take Bandit (unfortunately, I didn't take Sanpera, while some of the glitches I've read about were related to Sanpera<->Amp midi communication)...

    inexpensive amp for jams

there is also some Peavey Windsor Studio, 20W all-tube (as I was told here, it is ~50-60W SS?) combo $399 new. Just noticed it. Upd: Nevermind. Reviews are so-so.

    inexpensive amp for jams

Don't laugh... But if I jam (and I mean playing particular song exactly as I learned from tabs) in the company of newbs like myself, I'd have much more trust in my MP3 backing track. Upd: adding Peavey Bandit to consideration. Clean channel demos sound amazing, and most owners state it's built...

    inexpensive amp for jams

Although I never played it (there are very few amps I actually played), Bandit is SS with Peavey's patented transtube technology. But Vypyrs have this 'transtube' stuff, whatever is this, too. Overall, out of modeling & hybrid amps Vypyr 60 still goes my choice N1. Its' longterm reliability is...
