    computers

Hello folks, I have been having a battle with windows installing updates and somehow messing around with the computer even though I have put check marks saying not to do it. I seem to have lost my ability to view the still images of the video links that are being posted on the fret. Not...

    Epiphone ES-175 Re-issue

Hey folks,, I was working under the assumption that a lot of these copies of Gibson L5s and 175s were all made at the same factory. Do not get me wrong, as I find nothing to complain about my Korean made. Washburn J6 Montgomery. I have played a real L5 once, for a short time, and for the...

    Need Help

Hello folks, Back in the 60s, Jim Kweskin's Jug Band was pretty cool. Playing a bunch of traditional tunes from earlier years. Guthrie,Gene Autry,Ellington,,,, This one was a special favorite and I have the CD and am not sure of the chords used. I do not really speak in "1-1V-V". If anyone...

    Washburn Hb-32 Review

Hey Pie,,, Congrats on the guitar. I went on a 335 search and ended up with the same thing. Got mine new from BoogieStreetMusic. I recommend used. I paid $700. It did come with the SD PUPs. So, I guess it all balances out in the end. Mine is a 2005 MIC. I was looking at epi dots and...

    12/6

Just on a wild hair of an idea, I decided to string the guitar, using the back bridge pin holes instead of the front ones. Figured, or hoped, that I would get a little extra tension from the different position. Still in test mode. Steve

    12/6

Hey folks,,, I tried this approach about ten years ago and it worked. This time around, I am picking up a little fret buzz, even with the truss rod completely relaxed. I put Dad lights on, 12 - 53. Just might have to go with mediums to get the proper reaction. Steve

    'Without Wings'

Good for you Wingsdad,,, Thanks for the trust you have given, these last couple of years. Some of us have tried, to get our kids into playing more than the radio buttons in a car and it makes me feel glad, to know that one Dad has managed to pull it off. Must have felt pretty damn fine to...

Just look at those numbers, will ya???

Hey folks,,, I got here in Nov. 2007. Thanks to the guidance of a few of the fret-brethren. I just happened to look, at the left hand side, of the page and saw that I had compiled 200 posts. And in only, one and a half, years!!! That is quite a benchmark for me. I can remember being caught...

The Fear of Recording and Posting

Hey Strum,, The Sons of Champlin said it pretty good. "If your insides are on your outsides,,,,there's no pain". I take that to mean, the art of sharing everything, even the bad things, that we all have tucked away. Once it is out there,,,,it cannot do any damage at all. I feel like a...

    12/6

Hello folks, Due to a fairly poor record of employment over the past 18 months and the following economic repercussions that affected my guitar ownership/stewardship, I made a decision that would allow me to continue playing a decent rosewood B/S dread. I have removed six of the strings off...

    computers and albums

Thanks again for the input. What with owning the Zoom MRS-8, I have not been looking for other ways to do it. Looking at it now, I might have spent a little more time looking into the computer recording, rather than the stand alone route. It is time to tackle new technologies and owner...

    computers and albums

Folks,,, I appreciate all the information. It seems that I am not able to process all of it. I found an audio interface in the new sweetwater catalog. I just think that $80 to transfer some albums is a little high. I was thinking more half that. Then Robert brings up bit rates and the...

    computers and albums

Hello folks,, I have a 70 record collection of pritstine albums that I would like to transfer onto my Itunes. What with the limitations on MP3 frequency responses, I am not looking for cutting edge hardware. Do any of you have any recommendations?? Should I even consider software that is...

    Oh Susannah...

I admit to not remembering this tune by James Taylor. Your version is pretty darn good and if James were here, he would say the same. Steve

    5 Albums that shaped you

I used to listen to the early "underground", [remember the term?] FM radio in San Francisco and the listener sponsored KPFA, across the bay, in Berkely, Ca. They enabled me to listen to brand new ideas from everywhere, without having to pay for their ownership. I was 7 or 8 years old, in Los...
