I was messing with my AD30VT and cranked it a bit to get a truer idea of what my Floyd sounds like (as in, "No, dear, I need to keep it turned up so I can get a truer idea of what my guitar sounds like, not simply to stun musk oxen at 500 yards.") The single coils on it have more mids and more noise than other singles I've used. I couldn't figure out a decent way to eq-it out though. Then I bypassed the effects and it all became clear: too much reverb! Once I cut back on it a hair, it kept the intended fullness but removed the unwelcome muddiness. I'm not going to say that the pups now sound like the best single coils ever, but they do sound better.
