Love BB and love that song Steve! That's some great whiskey drinkin' music right there. In fact, I think I'll have one right now.:AOK:

actually met and talked shop with the King when I lived in Chicago. He like myself was there to hear Buddy Guy perform at a Blues club.he did take the stage ,did one tune, you got it.'' The thrill Is Gone''.. talk about feeling small, almost as bad as being in the masses at Woodstock 69..Now that was a Concert the likes of which we will never have or see again..feeling ancient

Ok, here is another link that seems to work.

They killed my second link too. All I can say is google bb king thrill is gone youtube and it will take you to one that works with him wearing this red jacket. It is a good one to watch. I like the one with Clapton, but this one is all BB on the guitar.

That is one of the songs I don't like being covered! It is BB's number and no one should dare covering it. My bandcolleagues once suggested covering it and I said that this song is "holy" in a way. Every band has a song that belongs to them and only they can represent it the correct way. The only guy I ever saw covering it and playing a version that I could bear listening to was Richie Kotzen.

:master:

the thrill is gone was not bb's....it was writen by rick darnell and roy hawkins....bb just made it popular....in fact bb didn't do much writing at all....

To me it's like with Elvis's numbers. He made them his so did BB with that song.

Yep. I always wondered what would have happened if Carl Perkins would have been the one to record "Blue Suede Shoes" first and Elvis had never done a version.....
