not sure if this belongs in here, but here goes.

Does anyone know what gear gave the tone for Steve Vais Bad Horsie? Or what could come close to it?

Thanks :)

Well, gee, over the years I've seen Vai on video playing with Carvin X100 amphs, Marshalls, Bogners, and finally with his own Carvin Legacy signature amph.

I know that the Morley "Bad Horsie" Wah was a signature product, and that many years ago he used to endorse Eventide effects as well, but I don't know about currently...

I would say the best way to get Vai's tone is to purchase an Ibanez JEM with Dimarzio's, a Carvin Legacy, and then swap hands with Vai.:D

+1 exactly

He is also currently using a TC Electronics piece of gear.

You'll probably need his brain, too--he thinks most of that stuff up himself....
