The discussion on the upcoming Jimi Hendrix album made me look at other similar releases that have been made after an artist's death.
What are some of your picks for a great album released after someone's death? I personally love a well recorded live album over studio albums. New, live, or re-release... it doesn't matter.
One that I recently bought captures Stevie Vaughan & Double Trouble (before he went by Stevie Ray Vaughan) live in 1980, called "In The Beginning (Live)". This is a somewhat raw sound, but the energy and performance is a must for any fan.
The SRV "Live at Carnegie Hall" and the 1983 concert album, "In Session" with Albert King are also fantastic must-haves for blues-rock fans.
Jimi Hendrix "Blues" is an excellent collection of what I feel was some of his best work.
