That was a really great trip. A little background . . . As some here know, I attend a regular group mountain bike ride out of a shop here in Hailey. Sun Summit South. Chip (Tall guy with glasses in the photos), who Spud knows from racing days, is the proprietor. Chip also turned 50 this last month and wanted guys from the shop ride to join him on a trip to Montana. Spud decided to join me on the ride, and came on over. Travis, who is pictured driving the big white Sprinter van, drove us over. Spud's pics follow the trip from there.
We were also in the area of (and in fact started a ride at) lost trail pass, where Lewis and Clark needed some help from the locals to find a way over the mountains there. There was no real trail in the vicinity, and history buffs know it almost turned out badly. Looking at the terrain they covered, on foot, with no roads or even real trails, was pretty amazing.
It was also really fun to see similar but different surroundings in a different ecosystem. That section of Montana is just a bit different from here. We also lucked out on the weather. Camping in October in Montana can be sketchy. As the pics show, the weather was really nice. Good rides, good camping, and good fun!
