Nothing looks as professional as an SM57 hung over the top of the amp by it's cord.

I've seen a few similar home made devices involving some aluminium stripping. They usually just hook on the back edge and hang over the front. That looks like the posh version.

I just dangle. Although it's far from optimal, it's good enough for live use.

They are totally different from each other. Totally different mounting systems. The Amp Clamp can come right off with little effort so that you can tear down quickly or reposition. They do have a couple different versions and one is for when you find your sweet spot then you can hit it all the time.
