Last week i ventured into the relatively unexplored reaches of our attic. I was hoping to find the original pickups for my Tele but i had no luck what i did find was a bag of fx pedals , mostly DODs from the late '80s i think, i used to have a Boss ME 5 but no patience so i swapped a it for this stash . I`m keeping the TS10 but the DOD chorus , compressor , flanger {tres '80s} ,delay and wah/volume pedals can probably go on eebay . Another interesting find was a Bell Electrolabs fuzz pedal anyone heard of these , I`m hoping someone will say its the holy grail of fuzz so I can retire early on the proceeds . There`s also a pretty good Epiphone delay pedal which i might keep as well .

If the DOD compressor is the FX80(iirc) it's very well regarded.
Your Bell fuzz is a Tonebender clone, a Mk 3 if it's got a tone control. There's some rumours that the boards were made by ColourSound (aka Sola Sound owned by Macari's). Tele + Tonebender is the sound of early Zeppelin. You might want to try it out.

Once again I bow to your encyclopaedic knowledge . I could`nt find anything about the Bell Fuzz on the web , although I`ve just plugged it in and it sounds suitably fuzzy . I have`nt bothered with effects for some time so I might try and offload these. The DOD stuff {and it is an FX80 comp } I remember thinking was pretty good at the time although I preferred Boss for distortion .

I could be mistaken, but I believe the DOD delay (if it is the FX90 analog, or analogue delay used the same chip set as the well-regarded Boss DM-2.

I also believe the chorus if it is the FX65 used the same chip set as the Boss CE-2.

I've got a ton of Boss OD/distortion pedals and DOD OD/distortion pedals, and I like them all :AOK: What can I say, I'm easy :rotflmao:

One thing to look out for in old effects pedals is the possibility of bad electrolytic caps. From what I've read, 20 years or so is about all you can expect from these before they'll need replacement. Just something to keep in mind if things don't sound quite right....

About three knob Tonebenders

A Colorsound Tonebender was my first pedal. I bought it from Macari's in the Charing Cross Road in 1975 for the exorbitant sum of £13 (I earned £4-odd a week at my Saturday job). It went awol along with a Schaller volume and an ElectroHarmonix PolyFlange when I moved house sometime in 1992.

And I can remember ads for those Bell pedals from the 70s. I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh.

DOD FX80-B is a great compressor...quiet and more subtle, but the sustain is great. Not really a squish type. The FX60/FX65 chorus is a keeper too.

I`ve never been that inventive with FX I bought a load in the early `90s and then realised why did I want my Tele to sound like a helicopter or whatever so stuck with the TS10 thru my Marshall .The DOD FX68 super stereo chorus was a great pedal I used that with my Guild Electro Acoustic but generally I like to keep it simple . I did like the look of the Seymour Duncan twin tube DVM posted on the previous thread but at almost $440 US its a bit pricey .

Mark I did a bit more research and someone is selling a Bell Flanger on eebay UK the same modular construction as the Fuzz starting at £120 . :thwap:
