Calling Linux heads: music tutorial stuff you use?

What do you Linux (or Wine) heads use for music, ear-training software?

This morning, an older copy of the ear-training "GNU solfege" took down my older laptop's PCLinusOS, which needed revamping anyway, but... (may have had to do with calls to sound driver or such)
