Here we go again,
With all the talk about amps and modelers, I once again wanted to
play a bit of devils advocate. The guitar in this song is a standard
strat, unmodified, plugged directly into the laptop. I added a free VST
reverb later that anyone can get legaly and free from the net.
The guitar was recorded ONCE through. There are no overdubs and that is
very easy to hear, there are some icky parts as it is just improvised all
the way through.
I never claimed to be a Jass musician, rather I am just a music experimentr
So please just consider this an
exercise in how to record your guitar for cheap. Much is made of this gear
or that gear, and I admit I likely would of played and sounded a bit more
inspired using more inspiring gear. But it means a lot to me to encourage
the musician who wants to record but buys into the BS of it is all i the gear.

Ironicly.. the guitar was recorded in less than 10 minutes (and it shows), the rest of the
music was arranged and put together over the span of 3 days. I'll go back
in later and totaly re-cut the guitar an shorten it some (it's a too long song),
but for now I just want to put this song away from me.

Without further adieu, I present Casual FUnk. Be gentle.

This piece( Reagou) is a guy request to compose something for his song a while ago .I did , it s a primary frame wich i did with Audacity and the cheapest pc mic you can get, no pluged instrument at all, well, sounds just ok .
This is just an exemple what we can do even some basic hardware , don t juge the tune, this is a instrumental version without the lyrics and the melodie ...hi. hi ..

I like the guitar sound - so, what program did you use for the recording itself?

The music other than the guitar I bounced between Magix Music Studio (3o bucks at Best Buy) and Cakewalk Pro Audio (obsolete 15 yr old software).

The guitar it's self was strait to laptop from the Strat, recored on Cakewalk.
Thanks for asking!

Hey, that was great.. illustrates my point perfectly.. little gear needed.

that being said I will go in and totaly re-do this song with better guitar gear, I worked to hard on the arrangment and music to leave it as it is.. my morning listen made me shudder.

thanks for your time.

Hi Andy.. yup, 1/4 inch to min jack right into the ol laptop.

I admit it is fairly meek, but if it was all I had I would be using it..

or in other words, gear is great, but lack of gear shouldnt stop anyone from at least doing some stuff.

This being said, I am in the process of breaking out much better gear to record the guitar with as we speak..
