Camrose, Alberta, Canada - used to be Umea Sweden.
Big Valley Jamboree, a huge country music festival in Camrose, where I live, had a severe storm yesterday. Disaster struck yesterday.

The Nashville-based Billy Currington band was playing when the power went out and the stage collapsed. One band member was pulled from the wreckage with a badly injured arm. Kevin Costner and his band Modern West were next to perform when the storm hit.

Then, the main stage collapsed in a severe storm, killing one person and injuring 15 others.

Four of those people were in critical condition, and another four were seriously hurt.

This is terrible. Camrose is in a state of shock right now. Our oldest daughter was there when it happened, and called us just when it happened. She is luckily alright, as she was not close to that stage at that time.

Wow. Sending good thoughts your way.

What was the stage construction like? Must have been some storm.

Wow Robert. Seems like forum members have had their share of tragedies and close calls this weekend. I'm very glad your daughter is ok. My thoughts go out to the families of the others.

Thanks, the stage was of the folding kind.

Pictures of tragedy in Camrose (Big Valley Jamboree)

incredible and chilling! I had friends soundchecking on the Saloon stage when the main stage collapsed! Thankfully they are all ok, but my heart goes out to those injured and especially the family and friends of the man killed.

Sorry, I post another thread about this Robert, I had not seen this story till this morning. Very serious accident and something I worry about each year as I have the job of getting our festival stage set and ready.

T ross, I sure hated to hear about this accident, it is so sad that something like that would happen at such a event were everyone is just looking to have fun. I hope the injureds recover soon.
