Missing a string and a knob, but no biggie. Also, I need to do some work on the input jack, may be able to tighten it, may have to replace it. Has short. Buzzes like a beejeezus unless you lean on it just right. Everything else seems to work fine. Also the knobs are same as Tele knobs, and I'm pretty sure I have a spare one somewhere. Just have to find it.

A smidge dinged up, but once I get the input jack sorted, should be good to go. Despite minor probs, still a deal, practically given away.

An update-- even with just an outside-only hand-tightening, I got the jack problem fixed. Still not 100% tight, but the buzz is gone and it doesn't crackle or pop while playing. Cleaned up the neck and body, and put on an E string, seems to play fine, no dead spots or intonation probs, and didn't even tweak the bridge.

Found that Tele knob, so I'm good to go!

Will have to take some better pics next week. It's actually more a heritage cherry color than the brownish it appears above.

Turser for the econo-bass win!

You gonna keep it, or flip it?

Thanks.

For the time being I'll keep. I know I could flip and probably make back double, but I'vealways liked the Stingray look, so I'll probably just keep it period. It's kinda ridiculous tho, I think I'm up to 7 basses now and not even playing bass in a band. At least, 5 of the 7 were only in the $100-125 range. And the other 2 weren't much more ($250 w/hsc & $275 w/hsc).

Oops, I misspoke about the 5 cheapies-- the other 4 were that range. The StingJay was $60. ;)

Cool find! I love the Stingray style.
:thumbsup

Thanks, yeah, I always thought the oval pg was cool. The giant hb too. If I understand the controls correctly, there's a vol, and then tones for each coil. Pretty interesting.

Also, I did some more work on the input jack issue. The hand tightening fixed the noise, but the jck wasn't 100% tight. I opened the back so I could hold onto the inside of the jack while tightening the collar on the outside, but they were frozen and would only turn in tandem, without tightening. So I fashioned a C ring out of plastic, then wedged it under the washer on the outside. Almost invisible, a bit Jerry-rigged, but works perfectly to keep the jack nice and tight.

Congrats! I've seen a few Jay Turser guitars and basses that looked well enough put together. Enjoy!

Congrats,
YOU can never have TOO MUCH LOW END in your life!!!

Thanks guys. Our bassist in the church band, First Things First, has a Turser P-bass that seems to get the job done, and sfaik she's never had a problem with it. So hopefully now that I've "fixed" it, this will be equally dependable. It's basswood, which frankly isn't my fave tonewood, if for no other reason than that it's soft and dents so easily. There's a ding down to the wood on the side of the lower horn, about as big as a dime coin, not shown (no surprise there) in the seller's pics. I took a red Sharpie and colored it in, and from a few feet it's no longer very noticeable (not that it was very noticeable while being played, even before, given that it wasn't on the guitar top).

Very interesting passive take on the 'ray.

Does it sound close to a stingray?

Seems like a lot of fun instrument for $60!

Congrats Brian.

Thanks, yeah, it's a cool cheapie for next to nothin'. I have no idea what a real Stingray sounds like, haha. This bass is very very warm.
