I've been meaning to post this and am just now getting around to it:

The Roadkill is a budget version of the ProCo Rat. I got the one in the above pictures for $20. It even has the coveted LM308 chip. The downside is that it doesn't have an AC jack, it only operates on batteries.

Apparently, the Roadkill and Brat are the same pedal, but with different graphics. I think that the Roadkill looks more manly, though

Probably not very hard at all if you used a filtered DC wall wart. You'd also have to wire the jack so that it disconnected the battery when a wall wart was plugged in, which is the way most of them are wired anyway.
