Got the first cell phone for my oldest offspring today...he's been running all round the neighborhood of late so I simply had to get one so I can call him to come home now and then, or alternatively spend a good while a few times a day going round ringing doorbells 'hey, is our Tasmanian Devil here by any chance?'...anyway, man it's so quick they grow up.

As much as I'm still unimpressed by cell phone culture, my eldest has one also. My ex bought him one when he was in 6th grade (he was only 12!).
Little b%$&@ has a much better phone than mine!

The good news is that I can always get a hold of him, like to pick him up from school, etc. I still can't believe he'll be in high school in 1 month.

Well it's even crazier for me...my kid is only five. But all his friends have phones also. They can't even read yet but are quite handy with them, like they are with computer games etc. as well. But indeed its great for keeping track on where he's at when he's out with friends.
