I am wanting to buy a basic 5-piece set for my 19 y/o son. I found a good priced set, but wanted input from a drummer. I figure if he finds that he like playing I can upgrade the cymbals and heads. Anyone?

Unfortunately I'm not a drummer, but that sounds like a good idea. I basically did the same with my daughter. Unfortunately she kind of lost interest since I couldn't help her learn and she was too busy with school and existing activities for lessons.

I bought an old "Percussion Plus" set off a buddy and scrounged up some stuff that another friend gave me and a snare I bought in a pawn. All told I spent a little over $100, maybe $120 or so.

Now I have a spare practice kit for my band's new drummer. He's using his own pedal, his snare and high-hat, and mostly his cymbals. But he says the drums and heads are actually fine!

Good luck!

if you still need a drumset

Hey if you still need a drum set check this one out

It was my first drum set, and it's pretty good for the money. It came with every thing you need to start (cymbals, stands, pedal). The only thing you would need to do is buy a seat. Ive been playing on it for two years now and Im realy happy with how it sounds (I bought new heads and I upgraded to zildjian a customs). I think its better then the one you listed above. If you have any questions about drums feel free to ask me.
