Epiphone Casino "new" P90's

Just picked up a new "old" 1999 Epiphone Casino. Love this guitar.
I was wondering if the new Chinese made Casino P 90's have a flatter neck pickup cover?
Mine is quite slanted.
If I get the pickups rewound I'd like to get one of the newer neck pickups or the cover.
I like the chrome cover look and want to retain that.
Any thoughts on these pickups? I feel they are a bit overwound.
That being said it's a great guitar.

Yea they will sound a lil trebly and slighty hot and harsh. By slanted are you talking the way its sits with one end higher that the other.If so they are adjusted that way to enhance the magnetic /string pull.I would just get some seymour or any good p90's they are cheaper than buckers instead of rewounding these unless its economical reasons and your doing it yourself...............plenty of used stock around for $30-50 .Do these(casinos) have f-holes and is it a hollow body? If so you dont really want really high output pups because of feedback issues.Also if you replace make sure they are waxed if it is a hollowbody!! I just did a level, crown and polish on the fretboard and boy what a difference.
I'm really interested in keeping the stock look so I may get a set of Casino pickups from "The Creamery" in Manchester.

I'm really diggin' the Casino but there are some room for improvements. The tuners are a little sloppy could use a new Kluson set possibly. The bridge saddles are also a little loose due to milling tolerences of the saddle threads. I know there are those who prefer the Elitist or the Lennon inspired but I like the extra room in the upper fretboard access of the neck joint of this Peerless model. I had a 61 reissue but sold it because i liked the 1999 Casino better. To each his own.
I'll post some piocs tomorrow.

Back in April of this year I was given a '97 Peerless Casino as an early birthday present, by the members of my church's band, First Things First. It had been modded with a Rio Grande P-90 in the neck, black covers on both pups, Bigsby, added master volume, and Grover tuners. I loves me that guitar!

Just ordered a set of Pickups

I just ordered a set of pickups from Jaime at "The Creamery" in Manchester, England.
I'm building a new wiring harness so everything will be sweet electrically.
I'm putting on a set of Mosrite type Klusons. They look the same but double line on the back case like the vintage sets had
but the string goes down into the tuner shaft like a vintage Fender guitar.
Plus the tuners are tight and have real smooth action. My original tuners rattle - buttons are not tight on shafts.
Thinking about a tone pros bridge too.

Dam nice guitar worth "upgrading" like you are doing, in my opinion. It will be interesting to hear about those creamery pickups.

I have a guitar with the vintage style tuners and the posts are loose and rattle in it as well. I bought a wood reamer and am going to do my own reaming the next time I put new tuners on a guitar and the holes need to be enlarged. I might put Grover mini locking tuners on this particular guitar and it will have to be reamed. These will be the type of tuners with the threaded sleeve kind of nut on top instead of the push in type.

Definitely keep us tuned in as you fix up this guitar. It's interesting.

Casino is NAKED

It's a 13 year old guitar....So, I stripped her down and did a level, crown and polish on the frets.

I'm getting ready to do some headstock work and wiring harness for the new Creamery Pickups.
