Why would a guitar have crystals? Were they just for looks, or are they "magic" crystals (wink, wink)??

The paint job sells it i guess-Its an entry level guitar with a fancy paint job.The "crystals" are plastic i think.

As it didn't sell on fleabay, why not donate it to a local music school/teacher?
