It was nearly new slightly used Fender Standard Strat in Vintage White that was traded in.I put it on layaway.Price was $249.99 with hard case.I can hardly wait to get it out of layaway.I have a Vox AD30VT XL coming to play it through.Just starting out and have a Johnson Strat copy and a Washburn Oscar Schmidt OE30.So this will my 1st brand name guitar.Always wanted a Fender!:rotflmao:

Congrats,

I've wanted a white Fender Strat for sometime, sounds like you got your hands on a good one. What's the pick-up arrangement?

Do remember - if you mentioned it here, you have to post pictures here.

And also remember - safety first.

forgot to say

Maple fretboard on maple neck. And a Fender shaped hard case worth about $100 salesman said.Saw it today with good friend M29 who looked it over and liked it.

You just hit all the right buttons. Standard Strat (MIM), Vintage White, my favourite strat colour, Maple board, my favourite Strat board, harshell case, and best of all TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY NINE DOLLARS. All I can say is
"start the car, you stole that thing". Just Strum is having palpitations over that one. Of course it doesn't exist without pictures. Pony up that money in a hurry so we can see it!

Based on the comment above the pic, I was afraid to click, thought it might be a pancake shot. Were you wearing those just before getting behind the camera?

Lookin good F4DPhantomII:AOK: Everything lines up nice and looks to be played very little. I did notice your tone control knobs are upside down but I don't think there is a lot to fixing that. :poke:

Kind of reminds me of a Jimmy Vaughan. I think it has the BWB pickguard though. My 60th MIM has a set of those Tex Mex pickups and they are really nice in that guitar. They would be a nice upgrade.
I don't know what it is about Vintage White with maple I guess it is that Hendrix vibe. I am always drawn to them.
Nice score!

Im diggin my 2 used MIMs cause its like they are lightly relic'd, I didnt put the first scratch, I didnt chip the paint and I didnt let the bridge mildly corrode...BUT I dig all of that, and now Im not worried about any of that happening...and I'll never clean those bridges/saddles!
I like how the setups are damn close already with only minor/minimal tweaks...pickup heights are perfect as is.
If I paid $600 for a new one...Id feel like I had to leave the spring cavity cover on. Id also feel like I needed to keep the trem floating as if I was going to use it at some point...instead of cramming a paint stick in there and blocking it down...as if any of these things would take away from its perceived $600 value.
I paid $225 each and basicly got 2 for the price of one...with money still to spare!
I think I may stick to just buying used gear from here on out.

Excellent guitars!! The stock pickups sound pretty good, but if you want alnico over ceramic, there are alot of good options out there. I replaced the bridge saddles with graphtechs on my old MIM strat and it made quite a difference. Guitar Fetish is a good, affordable resource for replacement tremelos for MIM strats as well as pickups.

Id read terrible reviews of the ceramics before Id purchased my first MIM, I thought $225 was a steal and that Id soon hotrod it out with the likes of Keystones as well as the rest of the electronics.
But as soon as I got home, I plugged it in and was delighted with what I had already. If you roll off the volume to about 7 shes nice and clean...but roll it up to 10 and she gets nice and dirty!
I feel that I get a broad range of classic Strat tones out of these and have yet to be disappointed...but that bridge pup is HOT!(Id like to tame that one a lil)
Now that Ive got 2 MIMs I think I may opt for that set of Keystones(in one of em)...but Im really enjoying the subtle differences between the maple and rosewood necks and their effect on tone as well as feel, so I havent decided which would get the new pups if at all....I really cant knock the ceramics, but then again thats probably just me.
