3) This is sort of funny and Tot you should get a kick out of this - I've thrown the butt-ugly guitar into the mix. I played this in Candy Apple Red and loved it.

I've completely fallen under the charms of the butt-ugly guitar.

I like maple boards with single coils.

I've only played one neck shape, so I'll leave that discussion to others.

teles will do that to you :AOK:

as for necks to be quite honest i'm not sure what shape and radius the necks on my guitars are....but i did just notice that they are all rosewood except my tele which is maple....the tele is one of my best playing guitars too....but i love my rosewood ones too! :greenguitar:

Any thoughts on these two Strats?

That's going to be a personal call on your part, what with the only effective difference between the two being the pickups (Texas Specials vs. Powerhouse Ultra Quiets). Try 'em out and see which one sounds better to you. I don't know how the Ultra Quiets sound, but if they're anything like the Vintage Noiseless ones, I would end up on the Roadhouse side of the spectrum. :)

My preference is a maple fretboard. For one, I love the looks of a maple fretboard and also the little bit of extra "snap" from maple as opposed to rosewood.

To be honest, I don't pay attention to any neck profiles. If the neck feels good, it feels good - but I'm not a fan of ball bat necks.

As for boards, I prefer rosewood or ebony. I have a Strat with a maple neck, but I've yet to make peace with it. Maple feels sticky under my fingers.

Must be all of those years playing Gibsons.....................:D
