When I was 9, being the oldest on Thanksgiving meant getting up with Mom, cooking cornbread, shredding wheat bread, and chopping various things until she told me to stop.

At 43... It means the house smells like dryer sheets as I freshen up laundry for the kids' bedrooms, make sure I've made 3 trips to the store to get all the secret things they love to eat

And make cornbread/shred wheat bread; bc like that nine year old kid... I will cook forever to do right by my family.

This is my only holiday with both of them; I only get them both together for this week. It's the perfect Chord... It's faery light... It's fireflies. We will all play guitar together. It will be beautiful.

Shiner's son is an hour away and I'm making his bed with a smile on my face...

Because no one can ever take a minute away from you that you ever had with your kids.

Muddy, I wish you cornbread.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I have so much to be thankful for I don't know where to start. A wonderful wife who is Teacher of the Year at her elementary school (yay!), great kids and extended family. Not only beating throat cancer and still being able to "sing," but putting out an album (VINYL, people!) and doing shows with a great band. And having the opportunity to play in church every Sunday too. New job next year will be a blast!

Lots to be thankful for here too.

For those of you who are prayerful or believe in mojo, etc.......my daughter could use some. It's been 4 years of bliss since she came out of a medically induced coma to fight her RSD/CRPS. Long-time Fretters remember her plight. Bedridden, in a wheelchair, couldn't be touched, constant excruciating pain, on 24 meds a day. We took her to Germany (all out of pocket) for the doc to put her in a coma and pump her full of 10,000 ml of ketamine over 5 days. She left Germany under her own power and on NO meds. God Bless German ingenuity and skill. An artiste' in every sense of the word as he worked his "magic" on my daughter.

Long story way short......she came out of remission 6 mths ago and has been going downhill. She is going in for 5 days of treatment this Monday here in Philly with the #1 RSSD doc in the USA. That said, docs here have the FDA watching their every step and they can't give her the kind of doses the Germans can give. If this doesn't give her the relief we pray for.......we may have to road-trip it again.

Sounds like you're going through a rough patch, Ron. Sometimes life keeps testing us when we've had plenty enough already. Hang in there and you'll soon look back on things, stronger and more appreciative than ever.
