I have an original osx leopard dvd and would like to copy it onto an external usb drive so I can boot to that drive and install. What's the trick ?
Basic steps don't seem to work.

thanks

Ted

actually, my problem is "*uplicating" the *isk.
Since posting, I am trying to zip the disk onto the external drive where hopefully I can unzip it

have you tried to create a folder on the usb drive and then simply drag and drop all the files on the dvd to that folder?

ww

yup, tried that, You can't actually see the files, only icons to initiate setup. I think it has to do with it being an installation disk.
The zip over worked but the unzipping barfs.

You can do that, but it would be better to create a disc copy and then:

Copy the file to your desktop and Lock it.
open disc utility.
choose osxinstalldvd.dmg on the left
hit burn on the top left
insert a DL-DVD

geez, I've had this mac for over a year now and I still keep trying things the windoze way.
