New to the site here and thought I would introduce myself. I am Dave, 40 years old and married to a wonderful and understanding woman for 18 years. I have been playing for a few years and might get serious about it one day. Mostly play acoustic now (Taylor GSRS) but love to plug in also (Part-O-Caster and Roland cube-60). Also looking for a teacher in central NC area, if you know any please pass on contact info.

Welcome, Dave! I have a type of part-o-caster myself. I'm a bit north to recommend an instructor, but there's plenty to learn right here, as well as Dolphinstreet. Check it out! And glad to have ya on the board with us! This is the best site you'll find to expand your knowledge on guit-fiddle.

Being from down south, do you ever run across a used Peavey Mace?:confused:

Welcome Mr O! I have been married to a beautiful and understanding wife for 24 years. We were young when we got married.

..there was a shotgun involved, ;) but it's worked out wonderfully!

Well... I heard it is something to be done after changing strings. But since I haven't been playin long enough to have changed strings yet, I'm not too concerned at the moment.
 
man i didn't realize this guitar stuff was so complicated....changing strings, tuning...geez

does anyone know where i can pick up a good kazoo? :D

I knew I would find a forum with real players eventually. Do you guys really change strings AND tune up. I have so much to learn. ;)

I have a friend who has a Gibson acoustic from the 50's. It's had the same strings on it since the early 70's. he plays it every day! :eek:

Of course & I do it in this order.

1) Remove grungy, dull, day-old strings.

2) Tune up. I use my new Pterson Strobostomp. You can never be too precise.

3) Install bright, shiny, new strings.

I sound great! :cool:

Do not beleive everything you read here. Some of us are to busy learning our new GAS equipment to be changing strings and tuning up.

GAS can be a good thing ... or a bad thing. It depends on your prospective.
