Yes, a house concert: someone booked a local acoustic folk-pop that I like and am starting to follow.

House concerts: anybody here do these?

They appear to be a win-win affair: better, attentive audience, no third-party involved with the proceeds.

House concerts are awesome! We hosted one in November featuring Codie Prevost and it was so popular a friend of mine hosted one last weekend with Jeff Straker and his sister Jill. More friends are anxious to host and are busy looking for talent. I want to book these folks in May/June.

There is also a non-profit out of Winnipeg that sets up hosts and artists and we've seen some awesome talent nearby. www.homeroutes.ca.

I love 'em, you get a chance to really meet and interact with the artist(s) and get a more intimate insight into their music.

The benefit for the artist(s) is the chance to expand their fan base, and to sell CDs, merch etc. Far more profitable and less overhead than a "regular" gig where they have to pay a band, sound man, possibly "pay-to-play" at the venue, and MAYBE, just maybe sell a couple of CDs.

I've also seen Kristin Sweetland - awesome! and John and Michelle Law - very awesome! in house concert settings.

I HIGHLY recommend house concerts for artists and music fans! :AOK :dude :happy
