I like beer . . .

Sea Dog is okay.. in fact, they bottle Gritty's, although Gritty's kegs their own beer. IMHO, Gritty's makes a MUCH better beer than Sea Dog.

If you can get it on tap, that's the absolute best, but if you live 4 hours from the closest one, bottles are acceptable substitute. :-)

There are three Gritty's locations: the Old Port in Portland, Lewiston/Auburn and Freeport.

This is Ninkasi Oatis, an oatmeal stout. Ninkasi Brewing Company is in Eugene, Oregon; about an hour south of my place.

Don't forget to drink your oatmeal!
Awesome! I love the "drink your oatmeal" line. :dude

Hey Mainstratman: I picked up a "Gritty's dozens" pack today, and tried a couple of them out. They are really quite good. Close your eyes and you are sitting in a pub. I had the pub style and the brown. Very nice beer!
I was in Brunswich and drove past the Sea Dog. Heading out to 99 restaurant for dinner so we skipped it. Not a great day wather wise but a good family day.

Costco/Kirkland beer

I had guests last weekend, so I picked up some beer at Costco. I figured I'd try the house brand, since there wasn't a huge selection. Turns out it's pretty decent. Included in the 24 pack are 6 of each: German Lager, Amber Ale, Pale Ale, and Hefeweizen. My favorite so far is the German Lager. I'm usually an ale fan, but there's something about a really good lager...

It's not quite the quality of a Deschutes, or a Rogue, but quite good all the same. Try some if you have the chance!

Yeah, the kirkland house brand is ok, though I prefer the Deschutes Red Chair pale, and the Black Butte porter I enjoyed tonight. Cheers for the weekend!

My weekend was over at 5 AM today, but I did have a Kirkland Pale last night. You know Steve, Black Butte is one of my all-time faves as far as bottled beer goes. Deschutes makes some mighty fine brews. Sumi is lucky to live right there where they brew it.
