I typically get a copy of the ballot ahead of time, either online or because my mother in law, who is blind, votes via absentee ballot. I then will do as much research as I can online to see what kinds of decisions these judges made and then vote accordingly. I also am lucky in that my closest friend is a professor of Political Science at USF so I usually consult him as well about anything on the ballot about which I am uninformed or just don't understand. When still in doubt, I do what Warren does and vote against them all.

I just downloaded a sample ballot for our county about half an hour ago. I have to leave here in about half an hour. I've already gone through the sample to check off who I'm voting for. I don't have time to research the judge appointments right now though I wish I would have thought about that yesterday. You have a good answer RoG.

Just got back from voting. However it turns out, it will be an historical event.

:smile-us:

Voted last Monday (27 October) after work. There was no way I was going to be anywhere around a polling place today.

Well now you'll know what to do next time around. :)

Mrs. Kat and I voted last week, in early voting. Wait was about 10 minutes, the process took about 5 minutes.

I'm certainly going to be glued to the TV tonight. Debating staying up to see who gets it. *Also debating on getting sloppy drunk to deal with whoever gets it.

*hope that's not too political

LOL!! Idaho used to forbid by law the sale of liquor until the polls were closed. They must have changed the laws partly for that reason. Seems un-American the other way.

Oh, so you are a socialist!

ouch!!!

Stopped on the way home to vote - no line, just me and one guy in the process of voting. They said early morning (when I had planned on voting) it was from the center of the building to about 30 feet outside. Probably a good 50 feet from the table to the door.

The wife and I voted at about 4:30. It only took about 5 minutes. We'll be watching the results at my favorite home away from home whilst guzzling Victory Hop Devil (with a Rouge Arrogant Bastard thrown in for good measure).

Voted on my way to work this AM--no line at all, in & out in 5 minutes. I wrote myself in for President, of course. Doesn't everybody?

I don't know if all states are voting for judges or not but I'm at a loss as to what to do about the "shall so and so be retained as such and such Judge".

I don't know any of these judges. I wouldn't know how to vote. What do you guys do about these questions? This is of course asking in generic terms. What would you do if you don't know anything about such posts?

If I heard there name mentioned and it wasn't followed by "under investigation", "indited", or "kiddie porn" then they get my vote. That process usually eliminates 2/3 of them.

An especially meaningful experience for me this time, having just finished teaching the American Revolution to my 8th grade class. We've had lots of great discussions, but my fondest hope is that the synchronicity of subject and event will help make them engaged citizens and life-long voters. Our democracy is such a hard-won gift and such an enormous blessing - our participation is a sacred responsibility in honor of those who gave their lives to establish it and is a duty we owe to our fellow citizens and especially, to our children.

So if you haven't voted, get up and GO! You'll feel good that you did!

Simple and to the point - well said.

We voted this afternoon around 4:30 - lines only about 10 deep - less than 5 minutes to actually voting. I was voter number 2056 in Northfield. They are expecting 70+% of the voters today in Vermont.

We voted, me, my daughter, her partner and I handed in my eldest granddaughter's absentee ballot - she's off at college, a sophomore at Johnson & Wales in Providence, RI.

We meet lots of friends - stood around and discussed many different topics.

It was a good day. We participated and were proud to wear our "I Voted" stickers. :AOK:

same here, no write in. So as I was leaving I took a can of spray paint and wrote "duhvoodooman for President" above the entry to the building. Should have added "even if you don't vote for him, buy your pedal needs from him". I'll remember to do that in four years.

Took us 10 minutes in line to get our registration slip and ballot. Took us much longer to fill in the little ovals with the pen...dang judges!  About 25 minutes total.

All I'm going to say is that I may just join Robert on his trip to Ontario.

Can we make DVM Secretary of Effects?

Thank you, thank you, my fellow Americans! We shall triumph! We shall succeed! Or at least, we shall plug into our amps through a good distortion pedal....

You've got me thinking there, R_of_G! The purpose of an effects pedal is to take the true signal and distort or manipulate it into something that suits your own objectives. So wouldn't I be qualified to be the White House Press Secretary?? ;)

Best joke ever. DVM wins this thread. :master:

Im normally not a voter, but if one of my bosses hadnt been such a loud mouth(and just so damn wrong) I dont think I would have voted...but I just had to cancel his vote out! So I managed to register on the last day you were able to...and I voted yesterday after work, right at 4pm and I was in and out in no time, less than 10 minutes.
I even stayed up and watched all the coverage and speeches :AOK:

I am amazed at the number of conservative guitarist, always thought of them to be liberals.

Anyway, my stand, my take:

For those that voted and those that didn't - you've witnessed a historic moment. For those that voted for the other guy (me) we should hope for Obama's success. It's no longer about him, it's about us, America and the World.

Why I didn't vote for him is no longer important, what's important now is right decisions.

Call it corny, call me blind, but it's time to move forward. Remember, the past 8 years haven't been fun (well, except for the guitar part).

Ok, you can lock the thread up and throw away the key.
