Nah... For that kind of money, I'd get a Ron Kirn Signature Barnbuster... Teles handmade from 100 year old reclaimed pine wood, for about $1650 out the door.

Or, for less than half the cost of the Kirn, I'd look at a Logan Custom... Not quite the built from scratch that you would get from a Kirn, but really cool nonetheless...

For $7-800, a person could spec out a really nice tele style guitar, and have all kinds of choices.

Wow Kat, those Barnbusters look amazing! I don't have a tele style guitar and the thought of a really gnarly 100 year old slab of pine, worked into a tele body with a bigsby and a ballsy bridge pickup....H'mmmm Where's Mah Chequebook!

I got some >100 year old pine blanks. Well I'm not sure they are 100 years old, but this chunk of pine was in my rafters when we bought our house, and it goes back to 1890...

The blank on the left is already a Tele, but that one on the right with the knots and splits is waiting to be finished.

Body is great. The neck plays, but I need to give making a neck another try. I will, too, pretty soon.

That redwood Fender looks nice. It is kind of along the lines of a Barnbuster

No question, Ron is a character and a cool guy. I have one of his T styles made of palownia with a fat maple neck and his home-roll pick-ups.
I love it. IMHO his guitars are a great value

I agree, though, BT, that the old growth redwood tele does look really nice. It may actually be worth the price, as I understand that redwood is very difficult to work with, and suffers from easy tearout when routing. I would imagine that there would be more than the usual amount of handwork involved in one of those teles.

BTW, otaypanky, that neck on your Kirn looks absolutely incredible. I'd love to get my hands on a chunky necked Tele like that.
